Infraction Levels

I don't know, maybe Spark could set things so it would vanish completely after a while. You're not the only one who feels that way.... I suppose he'll see this thread tomorrow.

Warnings are there for a reason.

I can see where you're coming from. However ...

1) You are in the same position as a great many other people who also did not know they were breaking a rule and therefore got a warning so they would know in the future. (The yellow indicates it was only a warning -- also the zero points.)

2) Spark is the only one who can reverse them. If he were to reverse all the warnings that perfectly innocent people like you got that would take up quite a bit of his time.

3) It would also make it impossible for the moderators to know who has gotten a warning in the past and therefore can be presumed to know what he's doing if he does the same thing again.

4) If I recall correctly, when Spark does reverse an infraction it still shows, it just adds to the record another entry saying it was reversed, and it still doesn't say any less than zero points. Come to think of it, that would invalidate point 3 above, wouldn't it....

I received a warning for putting a link in my post ,I was told (no advertising allowed) the link was deleted,I said that the link only showed things that can be made from metal not bits for sale. The mod said sorry he was in a hurry this morning and didn`t even click the link before he slammed a infraction on me,the link was restored but the warning is still there because he can`t reverse it.IS THAT FAIR ???

IS THAT FAIR ???

Well, once again, we can't reduce it to less than zero points. That's what we have warnings for, for people who don't deserve infractions.

Thank you Spark, Cougar Allen and Dann for the further comments.

Yes, in my case I did do wrong and got my wrist slapped. I removed the post and apologised. I won't make that same mistake again, but I really don't need to be reminded of it every time I log on to Bladeforums. I am going to see this warning for the rest of my life, perhaps another 20 years. In my view, once an infraction expired, it should be removed from my record. Even the police remove minor misdemeanors after three years! Just my 2 cents. Sucked it up, no big deal, but just annoying.

You get more flies with honey than vinegar. Sassing the mods isn't the way to get your wishes fulfilled.

I reversed the warning, but next time try working with us, especially on simple mistakes. The mods have a crappy job as is, making it harder on them isn't the best of ideas.

Thank you Spark,:):)I do try very hard to behave but "Suck it up " is hardly a reply one would expect from a mod in the middle of a very amicable discussion.

You know, we could have green cards here for those of us who have never been dinged. :D

RWS assaulted my intelligence in another thread. Please infract him.

:D

My intelligence was assaulted too, by some fool who doesn't know the difference between assault and insult -- so I insulted him!

Ahhh, my feline diction-scrutinizing friend... I actually had written insulted, but I decided that it really wasn't quite what I wanted to convey. Instead, I chose the less-expected assaulted as a way of describing a barrage of inane posts that continued to hammer away at my intelligence.

Good writing is a series of small surprises. Assaulted got your attention, didn't it?

[slap of glove to cheek] I hereby challenge you to a Scrabble game at ten paces.[/slap of glove to cheek]

Suck it up...It's just a warning...Not the end of the World...(At-least not yet.).

You know I sure hope my saying this isn't considered "sassing the Mods", but it seems to me that comments like this are unneccessary. It makes the forum a less pleasant place to be. I understand enforcing the rules, but there's no need to be rude about it. We're all here for the knives and the exchange of pleasant conversation, aren't we?

Sounds good to me. You will notice that Spark and Tinbasher sorted this out ten days ago, though, and bringing it back up now isn't really sassing the mods but it is contributing more to the heat than the light. That's why we have mods, to keep the heat down. It ain't always easy.

My apologies. I have just been noticing one Mod in particular handing out a lot of infractions lately. It creates an unpleasant atmosphere when people are being given "warnings" for making single posts in for sale threads that express excitement over a new purchase. In any case, I'm not trying to pick a fight. I've said my piece and I'm done. Thanks for listening Esav. - Jim

There are two threads, at the top of the for sale forum, stating. . . . .

There is too much chatting...Please use email or PM.

NOTE: This "For Sale" forum is not a "chat forum"...

If people are trying to sell their wares and others post unnecessary comments in other threads. . . .it moves their for sale threads down and visibility of their for sale thread diminishes.

The intent, at least one, is to give everyone the same amount of play in the for sale forum. Surely, relaying excitement using a more acceptable means (i.e., e-mail and or PM) can't be that hard.
