I need another Surge, it was the best multi-tool I've ever owned. The Skeletool is great because I always carry it but the Surge was enough to get anything done.

Bah humbug.

Have a package that was scheduled for delivery 2 days ago and the latest "tracking info" from USPS says it left Tampa 4 days ago....

YYYAAAAWWWWWNNNNN!!!!!!!!!!.........Mornin Gents....Slept in today. Yesterday was my last day of work till the 6th of January. Gonna be nice to have the time off. I shipped out some more knives yesterday, I emailed the customers with there tracking numbers and the projected delivery date. However, I also told them that all of the other knives Ive shipped out this month has been late. I always track my knives to make sure they get where there going. They've taken some crazy rides lately. A customer of mine in Cali just got his package yesterday, I sent it almost two weeks ago. The postal service is NUTS right now. The guy I talk to at the PO that I dealt with yesterday says hes pulled 14 hrs a day everyday for 3 weeks. My wife even got a package she ordered delivered last Sunday afternoon. Crazy.....Tis the season.

I have a bunch of stuff to ship out... I'm beginning to wonder if I might be better off to wait til after Christmas... I hate to keep people waiting but they probably won't get there any sooner if I ship 'em tomorrow, just more likely to get lost.

Last Friday I was expecting a package. It was out for delivery on Saturday, but never arrived. The reason online was somethign of this nature, "could not deliver, will attempt again." I figured that they just got there after the office was closed and it was too large to fit in my mailbox. Come Monday it was sitting in my mailbox. I even got mail on Saturday, a Christmas card, but they couldn't think to toss the padded envelope in too?

Heres a good one for ya Jerry, 2 weeks ago I sent a hornet to a customer in Tenn. Hes bought some stuff off of me before and he is a trusted customer. I sent the knife, the same day he sent the payment. We figured they would pass each other in transit. He got the Hornet three days later, (it was in a box) I just got the payment (envelope) last Saturday. Lol< don't know how that works?

Who knows how they route stuff. So far I've been lucky but there are lots of stories about packages going from CA to NY to get to Oregon, and weird stuff like that. I worked at the PO one summer when I was in college. Now that was almost 20 years ago, but let's just say... wrap and pad stuff as well as you possibly can.

From TN? That's just stupid.

A postal carrier here "lost it" a few years ago around Christmas time. He got in a feud with some guy on his route that came to the PO to complain about him all the time. They finally fired him when they saw video of him getting out of the car and punting packages toward the guys house.

How to open a can of food without a knife or opener...

Cool trick, but if your in the "Zombie Apocolypse" and you don't even have a knife or can opener you're probably screwed anyways :p

That's true!

But hey... it could happen... and if you have no knife or opener but you do find a can of food and something hard and abrasive to rub it on... now you at least have a little bit of food and a sorta sharp piece of metal (the lid) to cut other stuff with... make it sharper with the hard abrasive thing you already found... plus, an empty can for gathering water or making a cup/stove...

The knife journal podcast this week is hilarious, James and Kyle seem to be on a rampage today!

Morning guys, just had my breakfast. Bacon, eggs, toast, coffee, orange juice. The eggs were sunny side up, and threw some BBQ rub on them. They were amazing.

Speaking of the ZA and fending for yourself, along with all the literary ramblings yesterday, I thought I would let you folks know that I just finished a book called "Shaman" by Kim Stanley-Robinson. It's a story (as historically accurate as possible) about life in the ice age. The first part throws you right into a young man's rite of passage, which is basically bushcraft 101 for the stone tool era. The author seems to have really done his research about methods and materials, not to mention knows how to write a ripping good yarn, IMO. Relatively new book, my local library just bought it (at my request). I'd recommend it; I thought it was an interesting story as well as a great fictional treatise on the first bushcrafters. Anyone else read it?
