Hey Griswold. Where do you think you're gonna put a tree that big?

Bend over and I'll show you.

Love that movie too :)

I learned to drive in a huge late 70's Buick station wagon that had a massive V8 engine. The carburetor was roughly the size of a large human male skull, and it did 0-60 in about 15 minutes... Good times :)

I believe this is called 'the human condition'.

You, sir, are a poet and a philosopher.

That's pretty cool, and as stated you could make tools from the can if you had too. Anything in a survival situation would help.

That's exactly what I was thinking. The can-opening vid made perfect sense as soon as I saw it, but I never thought of it on my own.

Obviously, I'm a knife guy and it's pretty un-freaking-likely that I'll ever be caught off-guard without a knife... but hey. It could happen :p

There's an older video of Cody Lundin opening a can of tuna on a curb.

Cool... that's way better than dulling your knife

I'm not a large proponent of carrying canned foods anyway

Depends on the food... I wouldn't bother carrying canned pork'n'beans around. I do keep a couple tins of tuna and/or kippers in my BOB. Pretty high ratio of calories/essential fats/protein to weight. (the foil packs are even better, weight-wise... but it's harder to make a cup or stove with 'em.)

Yes, the only thing I'd pack is sardines and stuff. Cans can be. Just large and heavy. I'm more of a peanut butter, dry foods kinda guy.

Rice, tea, (maybe) noodles. Good knowledge of edible plants, I use them regularly.

I liked C tanners idea about carrying a bag of protein powder though. I may need to integrate that one.

Don't go fallin in love with that RV Clark, I'm taking it with me when I leave here next month.

There's a lot to be said in favor of weightlifters' drink mixes as a survival ration... many of them pack a whole boatload of calories, macro-nutrients like milk/egg proteins and various carbs, and lots of vitamins/minerals in a pretty compact package. They're kinda pricy, but not nearly as expensive as MRE's, and much more efficient to pack and carry. Some of them even taste almost OK. Years ago when I worked out, I mixed that sort of powder with chocolate syrup and/or peanut butter... you can almost fool yourself into thinking it's a milkshake.

(BTW, ever talked to a dude that had to live on MRE's for days or months at a time? They're typically not real thrilled about it, and not looking forward to doing it again.)

Come to think of it, it's weird that those kinda mixes aren't mentioned more often when folks discuss BOB's and caches and whatnot...

I lived on MREs for over 45 days before getting a hot meal. Not great, but they are not that bad really

Here is my daughter's next homework assignment. It keeps saying proper grammar all over the page, but Read (e.) LMAO

Same here, not nearly 45 days though.

It was the best thing I'd ever eaten mildly warm after no food for awhile and no hit meals. But good god almighty, I'll never touch another again given the choice. After you get real food again they too right back to tasting like dog crap.

Give me the sides and through the entrée away..

Speaking of eating, dinner just arrived from Tacklef$&@ Forge.

trade, I'm going to need precise caloric/nutritional breakdown on this stuff.
