Im all for leftovers too James!!

Now once it sits in the fridge for 3 or more days then its most likely going in the trash, but the next day, or 2nd day, i have no problems with it.

I had leftover lasagna for breakfast this morning, and it was delicious.
3 days?! What are you, my wife? It's not even leftovers until it's had a chance to sit in there for three or our days! If it's already been cooked once then gone in the fridge, it'll keep. I regularly prove my wife wrong by not getting sick every time she says something like "you made that last Tuesday! I'm not going to eat that! It's been in the refrigerator almost a week! You'll get sick!" If it doesn't smell bad and it's not growing (a lot of) mold, I'll eat it. And I (knock wood) never get sick. I hate to see food go to waste. Of course, the missus won't eat leftovers pretty much period. I had half a meatball sub yesterday that was hers from the day before. She was going to throw what was left of it out the night she ate the first half. As if meatballs go bad overnight in the fridge.
The funny thing is, we have some things in that fridge that are at least 3 years old and some "Here-she-is" and "Here-he-is" birth announcement chocolate bars that I know are more than 10 & 15 years old that we moved here in 2003 from our old house that she refuses to let me throw away. I'm not stupid enough to eat them, though. Yet, I was told that the beer I haven't been drinking the last 6 weeks "is taking up too much space" in the refrigerator. There is at times a black hole of logic in this house. I try not to get sucked in. But sometimes it's like I'm Rock trying to explain to Scissors why Paper wins.

You betta pray you ain't on the naughty list...

Man both of those are funny!!

If its 3 or more days old just sitting in the fridge, i dont mess with it, now if i was starving i would... And there was times many years ago i was starving and would eat damn near anything but these days we have other food in the fridge and cabinets so once it hits 3 or 4 days its gone.

And if you can see ANY mold at all, then there is mold you CANT see as well, and thats just gross dude LMAO

I suppose you could just wear a bunch of tourniquets and skip the pants.

The run was always the hardest part for me while in the army as well. I always maxed out push-ups and sit-ups but the best i ever did on the run was around 13 and a half minutes. and my normal 2 mile run time was closer to 14 and a half minutes. But hell i havent really did much running since i got out, i do some jogging with my daughter after school when the weather is warmer but its a light jog holding her hand, but thats the extent of my running anymore.

When i took the practice PT test before i joined the army my 2 mile time was 20 minutes LMAO, the recruiter said i was the only person he ever seen stop in the middle of the run and light up a cigarette. Girls were passing me, even heavy set ones, after that i was embarrassed and started running everywhere, every day. I got a lot better running but never was able to hit 11 minutes like some of my friends.

But i think its pretty cool you guys are doing it together!! Thats awesome really!

Well, she's in the AF and has a fitness test coming up next year on the Army standards. So I'm trying to do it with her to help her motivate. I'd be ecstatic with a 14 minute time. I don't think I've run under 8 minute miles ever. I'm a SLOOOOW runner. On the upside, I can generally score max points easily on pushups and pullups. Situps, still working, but max points on that should be feasible too. Good thing we've got these fitness challenges going. It's really helping my motivation.

'spose I'll take a risk, in on one for a change :) Bring on the snark!

Do those Blackhawk pants come with a matching shirt? You never know when your arms will be removed....

And the waffles guys, I've never had decent waffles but they look amazing, you are all making me very hungry here.

I'm listening.

Next year my fiacee and I are going to have to work up another batch of our homemade habanero sauce. We weren't able to this year and there is only 30oz or so left.

Made up some habanero sauce a few weeks ago. Added 7 habaneros, 10 thai chillis, mango, onion, garlic, sugar, olive oil and vinegar. Blended her all up, boiled for 20 mins and there we go! I call it "Johnny Cash Sauce". The mango gives it a nice deceiving sweet taste, and then the heat kicks in. Great on burgers, sandwiches and kebabs!

LMAO!!! Back when I was a Poolee we had one guy that would always fall out during PT, go rest and just lie on the ground smoking saying he can't do this or can't do that..

Don't get me wrong, I like to smoke too but I wasn't a bum for it.

Last time I saw him, he had joined the Army...

Mornin Daizee, hows your new batch of steel coming along?

Afternoon, Todd. Slowly... I've got half a dozen heat treated blades that need finishing. Maybe another 8 in progress, and that's if I don't start anything new! Hopefully I can get back into a routine after the holidays. Only getting in a couple evenings a week at the moment. :-(

Back in the day I used to max the pushups and the run but I never maxed the situps. I think 60 something was my best.

That sounds delicious! Speaking of habaneros, sometime soon I'm planning on trying to make some "habancello" with a friend. That should be interesting...

That hardly ever happens at our house :) If I don't eat it, the dogs will. We don't waste much here... every beef/pork/chicken/turkey bone gets frozen until there's enough for Angie to make soup stock, every bit of plant "scrap" goes in the compost pile. And that definitely includes eggshells and nut hulls.

If it's already been cooked once then gone in the fridge, it'll keep.

You are correct, sir. Some things don't even need to go in the fridge once they're cooked, as long as they're covered and eaten within a day or two (depending on weather)... for instance, I hate refrigerated leftover pizza, it sucks once it's been chilled. Takes all the texture and flavor out of it.

I'm listening.

Ask some of the cats who were at the Fall Gathering about it. It went over pretty well. :) I daresay, it wasn't too bad for my first try.

I just started getting serious about growing hot peppers and making my own sauce/relish this year... man, it's fun and actually pretty easy. I really enjoy tasty stuff that has no preservatives or fake dyes or other nonsense in it... it ends up being pretty cost-efficient, too.

Guess they were too hot to have been pollinated or something...

Hotness has nothing to do with the seeds being viable. Almost all store-bought plants/seeds are hybrids, and won't reproduce naturally. Gotta get heirloom seeds and grow 'em, to produce more seeds that will propagate true to their own genetics. (And if you're growing for seed stock, let the fruit from your healthiest plant get a little over-ripe to make sure the seeds are fully mature... that'll mess with your yield this year, but pay off bigtime in the future)

All the pepper plants I have now are hybrids, so I'm trying to keep them alive overwinter so I can get more out of 'em next season. My long-term goal is to switch over to all heirloom varieties.
