I received my Goncz M-3 today, and loaded up the included Duracell 123's, and lit 'er up.

My initial impression was 'Wow! This light is damn bright!'

I looked the light over, and it is very well constructed, with O-rings sealing the critical points, with very heavy anodized aluminum construction, and professional, laser etched logos. I like the 1/4 turn bezel, for either focusing to a spot, or a flood.

My only disappointment thus far is that the light output , while very bright, is yellowish in color, with a high amount of heat radiating from the glass lens. This may not be a problem as time goes by; I'll have to assess that after I get some use out of it.

After speaking with John, I found out my light has a halogen bulb, versus a zenon bulb, so that explains the yellowish output.

I will post more as I get a chance to use this light, but, as I stated; this light is very high quality, with very tight machining tolerances, and extremely bright. I think it is going to do very well on the market! :)

Here's a pic:

This is a 3x123A light? If you have the comparable surefire, can you compare the output with both P90 and P91 lamps? thanks!

Joe

Joe;

This light is indees a 3x123A.

I don't have an equal Surefire; only one I have is a 6-P, and my Streamlight Twin Task, and pelican M-6 are also 2x123A.

I initially requested an M-2 to test, but I assume John was out of stock on those.

I will be doing some comparison with my Streamlight Stinger, which is the only light I have that is close in output.

Sounds like a most interesting flashlight. I shall monitor the development and progress of this Goncz flashlight with great interest. :)

CODE 3, I too got an M-3 earlier in the week. I don't have anything that even compares output and quality wise. Do you have any recommendations for a Surefire model that could compare?? I want to purchase a light for a thorough comparison. Thanks

Compare that to a Surefire M3. Thats the surefire top of the line 3 lithium light. Of course, its only their "top of the line" because its waterproof, shockproof, and hard annodized. ;)

I would love to, but the M3 is almost $200, 3 times what the Goncz costs. Maybe I will get together a passaround raffle for the SF M3, that way I can compare them side by side without spending a fortune on another light for testing. If anyone is interested in the M3, keep your eyes open in the Passaround forum.

Maybe John would be up for a BFC passaround with one of his lights, I will try to talk to him about it. As for my M-3, You'll have to pry it from my cold dead hands;)

I've been comparing my Goncz M-3 with my Streamlight Stinger, and while the light from the Stinger is whiter, the Goncz M-3 smokes it in overall brightness,not to mention the M-3 is much heavier duty than the Stinger!

I talked to John today, and I'm hoping to get a xenon bulb for the M-3 when they become available.

I'm hoping to get a M-2 to try as well, when they become available. When I do get one, I'll compare it to my other 2X123A lights.

Overall, I'm really impressed with this Goncz M-3, and as you stated, TBG, it'll have to be pried from my cold, dead fingers!

:)

I'm impressed with the Goncz M-3's construction and performance, and it has been working out very well for me.

While using my M-3, I have noticed that the included Halogen bulb acts more like a flood, than a spot.

I have been using it along with my Stinger, and the M-3 lights up more area than the Stinger does, which I'm finding quite handy.

I have adjusted the 'focus' on each light, and the M-3 is better than the Stinger in overall 'flood' capability. I'm starting to like the M-3's halogen lamp, even though I would rather have a xenon bulb in it.

I'm anxious to test the M-2 against the other 2x123A lights in my arsenal. Hopefully I'll be able to do that soon.

More to follow as I continue using the M-3.

Klaus' pictures of the beam showed it to be narrow:

:confused:

Diamond Cut II, Thats supposed to be a M-5 in the picture, not the M-3

I have only had a chance to compare my M-3 to a couple Surefires so far. That being a A-2 and a E2E. The M-3 blows them away with light intensity and focus ability. Now I now this may not be a fair comparison since the M-3 is a 3 cell compared to two 2 cells. But the M-3's MSRP is lower than both of the other lights, so I consider it a valid comparision. But thats all I have currently to compare. The M-3 continues to impress me. Code 3, have you gone through your first set of batteries yet??
:confused:

I have been playing with mine for weeks and its still on the first set. The only thing I really prefer with regards to Surefire over the M-3 is I love the Hard Anodized finish on the SF's and the previously mentioned "Whiter" light. The bulb replacement may take one of those out of the running leaving only the HA finish. Don't get me wrong, the finish on the M-3 is outstanding, its more of a personal preference. I will post a full review with pictures in the near future.

GONCZ HI-TECH M-2

This comming week we will start to ship the M-2 with Xenon bulbs, that we already posted the output lumens.

Code - 3, Bad guy etc on the list.

PS. Code 3 the special project is coming and in about 3 - 4 week we will ship you one of the first article.

Code and TBG, thanks for your information. I was waiting patiently for your thoughts on these lights!

This is cool I lost sight of the review area. Thanks for the reviews. The HA doesn't mean that nucjh to me. Quality of maching and light output and runtime is what I'm lookin for.

GOLOK the avatar is sooooo cool :)

John;

I'm anxious to get that special project, and will promptly get it tested in the field as per our conversation.

I'm also anxious to get that M-2; it should be a real winner!

TBG;
I'm still on battery set #1, and the light is still going strong.

More to follow next week.
