I thought it would be entertaining (in a way) if we posted some pics of injuries we've sustained from our collective obsession. I know I don't consider a knife truly "mine" until I've bled because of it, though I may just be accident prone when I get a new knife.
Let's hear some of your stories and maybe see some pictures if y'all are game.

I don't have a picture, but I split open the side of my hand pretty bad (right between the thumb and index finger) batoning a couple months ago. I didn't actually cut myself; I wasn't paying close enough attention and crushed the skin. It split the way and orange skin will split if you squish it. Five or six stitches to seal it up; first time getting stitches, too.

Few years back I split my finger tip almost cleanly half when I tested my CRKT BladeLock knife. It didn't hurt as blade was razor sharp and I only noticed when I saw I was bleeding pretty badly... Didn't had camera with me then.

How are these, excuse the gore....

That happened while learning how to use (and how not to use :o) a hook / bowl carving knife while carving a spoon. I was sitting cross-legged on the floor and in a moment of inattention and improper technique the knife slipped and gashed my calf.

No pics, but recently, I was trying to cut a free standing hair with my newly sharpened Fallkniven U2. The hair was @ 7-8" long and the knife was not doing it at slow speed, sooooo...I decided that success was only a matter of "giving it the gas" (more speed :D). About then, my brain disengaged totally and I ended up cutting off the tip of my left index finger--about the size of a dime and beneath all the layers of skin. It happened very quick. Fortunately, I just missed the bone, but my fingerprint will never be the same.

Almost took the tip of my thumb off with my Emerson CQC7A while opening/closing watching TV on the couch few days ago.. Thank goodness I have a good supply of Super Glue around.. stitches are expensive. Last time I got some 3 months ago it ran me about $100 for the emergency room visit. Made them put a few extra in so I could get my moneys worth..

Cutting watermelon. Towards my hand. With a thick (and thankfully very sharp) knife. :o

Stupid fun, I was trying to stab a can off a counter top and hit the counter top instead stopping the knife but not my hand, hence my hand slid up the blade.

cutting rope while sitting down with a dull knife. i know i know, i should have known better. slit my left thigh at an odd angle that was fairly long but not deep. kind of like i was trying to filet my leg. no stitches but it left a good looking scar.

Sure, I'll play!

Funny you should ask:

While working on my car, I just got this [Wilson Combat DSO] knife so I wanted to use it badly, I stripped some wires with it and laid it on the floor of my car[DUH!!] with the rest of my tools, which I then proceeded to rest my arm on as I was working under the dash [DUH] it just slipped my mind.....not really a bad cut, especially looking at some of the others here but definitely gets me in the running for a Dumass Award. :D

Hey Arpaio, your first name start with a J? ;)

This one's very recent First knife injury in about 40 years...that's my right forearm. Spyderco, factory sharp. Hit a vein, stopped on a tendon. You should have seen the kitchen...and the cops who responded (I was home alone, family out of the country, with spurting blood going everywhere).
