What was the first knife Busse Combat sold? I wonder if anyone has a picture of it?
I don't know what the first one was. I know Jerry has been making knives for many years but I don't know how long he has been selling them. I'd love to know what the first one he sold was.
Not sure this would qualify as the first knife made by The Boss Hog, but.....

Many moons ago Jerry posted the pic below and related that one of his early (if not his original) forays into knife making was making "knapped" looking knives and selling them at rendezvous/reenactment gatherings. The knife shown is blued 01 steel with antler handle, according to the info given at the time. The knife impressed me greatly in that it shows the breadth of Jerry's craftsmanship and his imaginative reach.

And if he was pulling our leg and that knife was actually made of knapped flint because steel hadn't been invented yet, Jerry may be a *LOT* older than we think. ;) :D Of course, CBL is reputed to have preservative powers so strong that Baby Boomers will soon be replacing Geritol with it. At that time, Jerry cornering the CBL market will make him rich enough he can just grind for fun. Oh wait.....................

... he already only grinds for fun. :D

I've actually seen two of the knives Jerry made like you have pictured above, one in person, one from pics. The one I saw in person was definitely steel and I know the other one is as well, however, if I hadn't picked it up I would not have been able to tell it wasn't flint. It is amazing work.

Thanks for the pic and the reminder about this piece

:D:D

Here's a blast from the past. Great article though so I thought I'd bring it back up for any newcomers to Busse.

:D:D

Still going through some of my old pics and I thought some of you might not have seen this one before. It is called the "Knight Light"

I don't own it but I wish I knew where I could find one

Eric, any idea who made that sheath? I remember seeing it from when I first got started and have never been able to find it til today. I have wanted something like that since I first saw it:thumbup:

THank you for bumping:cool:

That is the only picture I have of it and I've never seen it in person so I can really tell you. I'd email a pic to Kenny Rowe and ask him if it is one of his though.

Good luck
Eric

Great thread.

I always lament not being around when the oldies were that cheap! I have spent more on knives that were no where near as cool!
