International shipping woes!

The person in question will not be back and it appears that the folks on the other forum are onto his practices. Keep in mind, we cannot control what appens on other boards.

" CONUS only" has managed to save me a few expenses but i still try anyway if i like the stuff a lot.
I will only consider buying from US or anywhere else that needs a postal service WITH a TRACKING/CUSTOM number. Without so i sincerely stick out from Buying section.
The risk is entirely on me once it leaves US soil and so far i have lost 1 package and it happened in my local airport where it was stolen. Meaning 100% of the purchase from oversea had gone well and swell.

Just want to add that I've been buying and selling items to and from the States for 15 years without a loss.

If it were not for those exercising due diligence and willingness to deal outside of the States I would not have these.

I thank those still open to international trading and hope more continue to do so.

Nothing worse than seeing CONUS only.............just makes me want to post up an XM for $50 with NZ only shipping.........

I am so done with international shipping as well. I sent one item to China and just because buyer didnt get it in a timely manner he opened up a PP case. He finally received the package but the annoyance was awful. Then sent a package to Framce thinking it would be different, no such luck. I hate PP and shipping abroad is far too much of a headache.

That is unfortunate to hear. I've had many more transactions here than my feedback would suggest, and the only time I've had an issue with a shipment was 3 out of 4 knives were In the box, which was resolved promptly by the seller. However I've had 2 American makers take my money, one ran off with my knife when I returned it for repairs, and the other sent me half of my order. So far it has only been American makers that I have had problems with. It's easy to focus on the negatives, but for me at least I will not let a couple of setbacks taint the overwhelming good I've seen here.

I hope some day in the future you will reconsider your stance, but it is your decision.

I recently sold a very expensive custom to a chap in Russia with not much of a track record on the forums. He paid with PayPal, not gift, the regular way, with fees. I was nervous about it, sure, but I thought, well, most people are probably nervous about shipping to Africa! If people werent prepared to ship out here, my knife collection would be a fraction of what it is today. And I'd be a rich man! :D

Oh yeah, and the knife arrived in Russia with no problems... he's very happy with it.

For every negative story about international shipping, there are ten positive ones.

i don't like the non conUS as well,

our track record shipping world wide ( +/- 700 parcels a year and rising every month) we ship out off the Netherlands, and most off theme are parcel mail with tracking number
in the 5 year we are shipping goods
3 parcels lost ,
1 x in belgium ,
1 x addressed to Monaco ( got lost in belgium , after the first time the shipment was returned , as address unknown, called explained that the address is correct , and awas adviced to ship it out again , and this time it got lost in a distribution center in Belgium )
1 x US , this was with the sharpened incoming mail / parcels rules from TSA / US customs, about a 1,5 year ago ( at this time there was such a bag log at USPS that we seriously considered not to ship to the US anymore, as a normal parcel took 6 to 8 weeks to be delivered, and this delay was caused by customs inbound US ) this parcel got shipped from one distribution center to a other, and there they could not find it anymore

next to this, we have about 3 parcels returned to us every month , address not found ( some times we are given a name and place, no zip or house number ) or receiver not at home , up coming problem for big city's , no aces code to building
it sometimes really have a problem with addresses, for Ireland for example , they use no zip code , so name, street name , and town name , and sometimes 3e house right next to white bridge

all in all very good track record i think,

we have simple rules, pack like you mean it ... for new employees i perform the parcel test.
every parcel that is under 10 lbs , need to with stand the flight off stairs test, and i drop it off our steel stair way , parts inside need to survive this with out any damage
because i know very well how boxes are handled at sorting center.
and don't ship to small boxes, sounds stupid, but 2 bolt and a nut put in a zip bag will have a very big change off getting lost somewhere in the line, just because it falls out off a crate or rack

every parcel is shipped with tracking number, nothing leaves with out.
we really want our customers to receive there ordered stuff.

so, buyers.. do your selfs a favor, buy some descend shipping, shipping should never be a extra , but take this in calculation before you buy, slow boat letterbox mail with stamps , sure some times it works, but don't be surprised to much of it will not arrive

seller... offer only shipping with tracking number ( even than it can sometimes be a pain ) take this in account with the price off good to be sold

i personally, with high end knives , i want the fastest option possible , tracking from minute 1 to delivery , and i don't mind paying for this.
because i can not live with the fact, that a considerable amount off money spend, can get lost in the mail.. i need to work way to hard for it
so i prefer to spend a little extra and have shipping in the best possible way

gr, martin
