Introducing The 535 Bugout

BMCGear BMCGear you scared me for a minute and thought you were disappointed. I felt bad highly recommending it but I'm so glad your initial impressions in hand feel changed for you . It's true though it'll feel different for everyone and yes it excels in so many areas I truly believe it makes up for any short comings that some might feel .
I'm really happy that it will stay in your rotation and hopefully to enjoy years to come .
I really really like mine still and thinking about adding some custom C.F. handles . But for me not because it needs it but I think it would be the frosting on the cake for this sexy little knife!
Nice Picture Btw and nice Lanyard !

Let me give my initial impressions (for what they're worth :D )

The Bugout wasn't supposed to get here until tomorrow but it made it a day early. I was surprised to see a USPS Priority Box in the mail today so I knew the knife gods were smiling upon me.

I opened the box and was immediately disappointed. Man, this knife is thin and I knew it would be. I sold my 940 because it was too slim all the way around for me. My hope was that the handle was taller and the thinness wouldn't be as noticeable. I put the knife down and thought, ok, give it some time before you get hasty. I carry a Grip everyday and really like the filling handle. I came inside and started handling the knife again. I will say that TheFactor TheFactor is correct, the blue is going to grow on me. Photos don't seem to do this knife justice in my eyes. The blue looks great and the blade shape is actually pretty sexy to be so utilitarian. So I get inside and begin playing with the knife; yes it is thinner than I like, that isn't going to go away but man there's something impressive about this knife. The feel of it overall, how it deploys, and how light it is adds up to be perfect for what I planned to use it for. Is it thinner than I prefer, yes! But this won't be my do everything EDC blade and for the role that I bought it for, it will excel.

Thanks to all who contributed to the thread and to Benchmade Benchmade for putting out a great design with customer service to back it up.

Also...REALLY liking this clip.

Glad it's growing on you... Based on what you like about this knife as well as your griptilian, I would suggest the new Benchmade freek. I just got mine and it is sweet and sounds like you would like it.

TheFactor TheFactor I still wish it were a bit thicker. A bit thicker and a little longer in the handle and blade and this knife would be about perfect for me. :)

For what it is though, a super light knife that you can actually get 4 fingers on, and carry discreetly it works well. I almost went with a mini grip but what made me try this one was the slightly longer handle. I'm loving the blade shape more and more.

That knife is on my short list. If it would have weighed around 3 oz it would have been purchased instead of the Bugout. I needed a light knife to carry in gym shorts. I can carry the Freek or my Grip (Knifeworks Exclusive) but you know it's there and not in a good way.

The Bugout is gonna be a keeper in this area, I believe.

I wonder how the Bugout handle compares to the Delica? Any pics would be appreciated!!

Chris D:D

Unless you like dry humor and a little profanity lol go straight to the 7.06 time stamp for the delica vs 535 size comparison.

That's the first review I watched of that knife. I always laugh at his commentary.

Yes he's pretty cut and dry :D
I posted another review on this thread from a YouTube review that was really good " Edit " Page 12 on this thread.

One thing though I must add is they do come a little stiff action wise out of the box but after a couple days of couch flicking lol and a slight adjustment then another day or two of flicking its smooth as glass . Blade pretty much free falls with a little flick and snaps open nicely. Still rock solid lock up and no play in any direction.

Ok, handled one today, and I like the size and how slim it is. Still don't like the S30V though, so I am not going to purchase.

Maybe there will be a -1, -1401, -1501, etc in the future.

Looking good ! I wish I was able to do a fine job like that. Doing free hand , no mater what, I always seem to leave a scratch or more on the blade.

Just put some painters tape on the blade before sharpening and you'll be good to go

Just ordered some custom made carbon fiber scales for my 535 .
I was totally happy with the looks and feel of the stock scales but I love CF.
Should look pretty sweet with the blue stand offs .
Can't wait !!!
