Introducing the SARGE Series. . . . YOWZA!!!!!!. . . Nice Job Garth!!!!!

"Sarge" huh?
Nice knife and nice name.
In light of me recently "getting my 5", I might just have to pick one of these up when they become available. Sounds like fate to me. :D

Me likey!

But this gave me an idea (can you smell the smoke? :o)... You see areas hollowed out to make it lighter, which is bloody brilliant, don't get me wrong! ...But I see 2 spaces ready to fit a bit of kit ;) Mebbe some waterproof matches in one space, a few fish hooks & line in the other...
May I plead with ya to make a special version of this with screws to access these spaces? You can call it the SURGE... Survival Until Rescued Garth Edition! :D:D

Just a thought (which for me is a bit rare!) :)

This is brilliant!!! Another vote for the SURGE with torx screws!!!

uh,
...it never ends.

Guys, what do you think about the 7" lenght? From a practical standpoint...I'm especially interested in SAR6 owner's opinion...

I honestly think the SAR6 is THE perfect knife in a survival situation. I love mine. I love the length and the weight. If I could have 1 knife lost in the woods, it would be the SAR6. Not some unwieldy chopper, or a Boss Street. I had a SAR8 and I remember thinking it was a bit too long to be a practical 1 knife design. When the 6 came out I was in love. Without having used or held the 7, I cant say for sure... but I can't imagine 1" being a huge improvement over the SAR6. I think it just fits nicely with 3,4,5,6,7,8... so they made it.

Much will depend on the balance of this knife. The SAR-6 is capable of chopping but still nimble in hand. It seems to me that by lightening up the handle this should be more blade heavy, and therefore better in a chopping role. However, this neglects to take into account the effect of the flat grind lightening up the blade as well. Fortunately the best way to tell will be to try it out in person. :D

The fact that it's lighter than the 6 and yet an inch longer and (iirc) thicker is a huge bonus, especially if you're carrying it on your person. For me personally, this blade is perfect because I miss my SAR-6 and don't have a knife in this size yet.

To answer your question, I think the 6 was fine at the length it was. It didn't need to be any longer. That said, I can't wait for a 7! :D

i think the 7 will chop as well or maybe even better than the 8, i'll have to give it try when i sober up. i know it sure feels good, the balance is just right for a knife this size. also i can't wait to see who first mods the handle to hold some survival goodies.

Will this be available in other handle materials or just tiger micarta? Not that I don't like tiger micarta, but for the SAR6 it was $120 more than black paper micarta, and there are other things I could be doing with $120.

Sweet!

Jerry, did this take place of the NMSARELBSLE or is that another whole monster to come?

. . . . . errrrrr. . . . .no. . . errrrr. . . . yes. . . .
