iOS 7

I actually like it. It does look childish but it works nice and seems to be smoother then ios 6. I had issues with ios 6 on my 4s.

I made the upgrade onto a 5 a few hours ago. Everything has been working fine so far. All the apps I've checked are working fine. I don't like the look (and I knew I wouldn't) but the added features far outweigh aesthetic considerations. However, I should also say that my objection to the look goes beyond matters of taste. The font is thinner and fainter, and I find it more difficult to read.

I'm glad (so far) that I made the upgrade (in spite of the look.)

My wife's iPhone 5 was experiencing battery drain, but I closed unnecessary background tasks and turned off most, if not all, location services and now her battery life is fine. The new OS does make the device slightly, but noticeably, sluggish. No doubt that's intentional, to make people want to upgrade to the newest hardware. Planned obsolescence.

The more I'm using it, the less I'm liking the design of the calendar and alarm/timer apps. They look artsy but are difficult to read compared to iOS 6. I used to be able to use these particular apps without reading glasses. That's no longer possible. Maybe it doesn't matter for those under 40, but for the rest of us...

It is very dainty now. Every time I use my iPad now I feel like I am in a douche commercial.

I'd like it better if the banner/border at the bottom could be made less opaque, eats up a lot of the screen on my ipod touch 5...don't have a Smart phone, or even a clever one ;) just a silly net10 pay as you go, so I use my ipod touch when I can catch a wifi spot or at home :)
G2

edited to add, that Control Center thingy is hit or miss on my ipod 5, ya swipe and ya swipe and occasionally it'll pop up, sliding down from the top works every time, but not the Control Center dealythingamabob :(

Edited again, as I figured out why the control center wasn't always working, the otter box case was blocking the very bottom

I'm kind of surprised by all the people that dislike iOS 7 so much. I've been running iOS 7 for about 2-3 months now (I have a developer account; running betas) and I absolutely love the new look and feel. Much flatter design and I think it has been a nice refresh.

Changed over a few days ago. If I wanted something that looked this childish I would have bought a damn leap pad ( guys with kids will understand). It looks childish and not as professional to me. Wish I could change back

Not turn this into an Apple vs Android (or whatever) debate, but...

I really don't understand why Apple doesn't introduce themes, or allow 3rd party themes. On an Android, you can often choose from multiple themes provided by the manufacturer. If not, you can always use Apex or Nova or Go launchers and use or make your own theme. If you want, you can make your Samsung look like an HTC. Heck, you can even make it look like WP or iOS if you really want to. But no, if you have an iProduct, you're stuck with your device looking like everybody else's, whether you like it or not.

Maybe that's Apple's plan all along; force a new look on everybody, which'll be hated by most or at least many, and then offer a "Classic" theme or other themes. For a fee from the App Store, of course.

You have a good point. I really like some things about the iPhones and iPads, but Apple's attitude can be off-putting, to say the least. I've jailbroken my iPad just to try some things with it, and it's been a lot of fun, but it really aggravates the people at the Apple stores when I show them. :D Too bad, once I buy it, it's mine to do with as I please. You gotta watch those old Unix guys.... ;)

I hate it. Most screens look like an ereader. Hate the new slide bar to answer a call.

Looks like something my grandaughter would like. Slower, too. Glad it's not my phone. I'd hate it if I'd paid money for it.

Jumping on the dislike bandwagon here too I have a 4s and I text a lot and have been having problems with iMessage not wanting to send messages even with wifi connected with a strong signal. And now since the messaging area is all white I have noticed that my battery has been dying a lot faster, I used to be able to stretch a good day and half without having to charge my phone and now its down to 25% or less by the end of the night.

Is iMessage a messaging app, or is is merely SMS (basic texting)? SMS goes through the your regular phone signal, not your data or wifi connection.

EDIT: I looked it up, and iMessage is a data/wifi app. Still, try the above hint.

As for the battery life, just google iOS 7 battery life and you'll find a bunch of pages with several tips. A lot of the drain seems to stem background app refreshing and location services. If you don't use Bluetooth, turn it off, but ignore the advice that turning it off will save you battery life if you use it or wifi frequently. Simply having Bluetooth and wifi turned on takes extremely little juice; they only drain significantly if they're actually used.

I still haven't upgraded my phone.. But I've learned to enjoy the advantages of the new OS... At first I thought ALL icons would be flat.. The ones that are flat, whatever, function of fluff IMO. Nobody likes to relearn things they already are very comfortable with. This will push off some and bring in new people.. everyone is different.

Only thing that is bugging me so far is that in Music, if I'm listening to a playlist that is on my Ipad, then want to listen to the iradio, the icon isn't there.. I have to shut Music and then start it up, and then the icon is there.. Is this a setting I haven't found yet.. I've scoured most every screen now.. so I don't think so.

Oh and web bookmarks vs favorites.. kind of annoying how it works now. meh.

Love having the control panel on any screen (once you get used to range of activation),

All other apps work fine.

Still only had one crash, some kids app, otherwise no crashing.

Battery life on Ipad seems the same. I turn off wifi and bluetooth whenever not being used, always have done it like this. Location services I rarely use on the pad, and background refreshing, I turned that off first thing. I don't run tons of crap for weather apps or what not.. I do most tasks on demand when I choose and then turn all functions back off.
