My opinion is that you leave EVERYTHING here, including his personal info. He apologized and (I assume) returned the knife. OK. But based on how he acted a lot of folks would like to avoid irishwolf91. Leaving everything in this thread, including his info, is not punitive. It just allows people the best chance of making an informed decision about doing business with James Roycroft.
Others might have a different opinion on how to deal with this, and that is cool too. I can understand (but don't agree with) deleting James personal info. However, whatever you do, PLEASE do not remove his name and anything other than his address.

Lets not be getting all crazy ... The knife is not home yet ! Much agreed that everything should be left up . I feel for the guy a bit . But he has to pay the price for a little while . Apologies are great but actions are how you clear your name. I have seen a lot of people leave hobbies because they committed some sort of wrong within the community .. But that is chicken shit behavior . Stay around and show the community how you could be a asset . Loose the swearing and stop dwelling on your crappy life and make something of yourself. Very well put. Life is not about dwelling on the past, but rather learning from it so we can do better in the future. Irishwolf91 has an opportunity here. He has the opportunity to turn this misadventure into something positive. Let's hope he doesn't waste it. Do better. Be better. And stay with the hobby. Start small. Things will turn around eventually.

I agree that the video proves nothing other then putting it in a box, but let's give him the benefit of the doubt.
Let's see how this plays out, and go from there. Everyone deserves the opportunity to change their ways. I feel people do deserve a pass at some point in their life, it's what they choose to do with the pass that counts. Will he change, I don't know the answer but I hope so as he has a long way to go in life as he's a young guy. I hope this was a learning experience, and that he makes to most of it as it's never too late to change. There are people in this thread that were given a pass, and redeemed themselves, maybe he will too.

I for one, am pulling for this kid (young man), to get his life turned around. Maybe it's because of personal things going on in my life right now, & being Christmas time & all? Regardless- I think this fellow knife nut, needs some support & positive mentoring.

Edit: This is just some helpful shipping advice, James (as if you don't already have enough on your plate). It was great that you used a USPS flat rate box & that you took a video. In the future, it would help if you filled the box with something to secure the knife from bouncing around inside, & also use lots of tape on the flap & both ends. These extra precautionary measures just help to prevent possible theft. :thumbup:

My thoughts exactly. Obviously I enjoy this hobby of collecting and using knives very much. I don't want to see this young man's interest dashed by a set of bad circumstances. We still need to see that the knife in question is returned to its rightful owner, but perhaps there is something that we, as the knife community, can do to help this young man out a little.

So, was it true that Irish put up a post to trade the knife away AFTER Gizmo told him he wanted it back and would not accept money in lieu of the originally promised knives?
If so, there is nothing that Irish could do (in my eyes anyway), to show that he is not a lowlife scammer who tried to take advantage of a situation.
Everyone has shit going on in their life. If your shit gets in the way, it's no one's responsibility to fix but yours, and pissing on people is not the way to deal with it. Instead, you beg for understanding and forgiveness and do whatever is in your power to make things right and EARN that understanding and forgiveness.
To tell someone they are in the wrong when you have something THEY OWN and they want it back ASAP, just because you screwed up your life and are BUSY? Give me a freaking break.
I said it in another thread, I say it in front of judges, and I'll say it here: too damn much entitlement in this world.
If more people would man the eff up and just do the right thing, the country wouldn't be going to hell in a handbasket.

Forgive and forget??? Do a deal with him??? Not me. That doesn't make me heartless, but it does free me of the potential to ever be his victim. Trust has to be earned and it can be destroyed in a single moment. Irishwolf91 was on my ignore list before this happened and he will remain there. IMO, it is his nature to act the way he has acted in front of us and sooner or later, he will act that way again. I have nearly 30 years of experience trying to help folks who have fallen victim to those who would prey on them. To each his/her own, but I will not forgive and forget in this instance any more than I'd stick my hand into a dark hole down here in the Arizona desert for fear of getting bitten by a rattlesnake. It just doesn't make sense and I don't need to. Just my .02.

No, forgetting this is not really going to happen. It's pretty memorable. Let's see if he can make good on this and atone for his actions. I'll defer further comment until we hear back about the safe return of the knife to its rightful owner.
