Wow! I think it came out great Troop. I'd buy it. The ironwood was a good touch.

Thanks, guys. Glad you like her.:) I figured you guys would like the Ironwood.

Troop,

That's a beauty! A2 and Ironwood are a couple of my favorites. Great job....

Troop,

I was reading that Ironwood is getting to be scarce, have you found that?

I haven't heard about it, but like a lot of our other natural resources, it doesn't surprise me. I get it from a really good guy down in Arizona, for a really good price. If you'd like, I'll post a link to his website. (once I find it.):)

what did you do to it to stabilize it? my understanding is that ironwood doesn't need stabilizing because its so dense to begin with.

It is getting harder to find. A permit is required to collect even dead wood. I believe if it is on private land you can do as you wish.

It was probably stabilized with resin impregnation. The wood is put in a vacuum with resin.

I've found that ironwood can have lots of voids and less dense sapwood as well. With the rarity of good solid slabs stabilizing lesser quality specimens makes sense.

Beautiful knife.... I like your background items, too. Firesteel, compass and toilet paper.... the makings of a great survival kit... lol

Yeah...I thought that the TP would make you guys smile.:D It was my son, Alexander's, idea.

Very nice work. I really like the wood also.

Can I ask why the knife blade is so much larger near the hilt? Is that just personal preference or does it serve a purpose in the knifes function?

Really nice work.

I like recurves.... slightly more cutting (slicing) surface. (Plus, I think they look cool.)
