Ironwood WSK

Something very satisfying about being able to create something you will be able to pass on for generations. I would hate to leave this world without leaving something that I did well. That is very nice work.
Ironwood is king!

Thanks again, guys, for all the comments. It is extremely satisfying to make your own knife, and having it perform great for you.

I just wanted to thank Scott Gossman for providing some key guidance during my (ongoing) learning process.

Glad to help bro. Looks awesome! Keep em coming.

Isn't ironwood gorgeous. Sucks to work, but man its pretty!

Thanks very much, Andy. Yeah...what is it with Ironwood? It IS kinda rough to work with. It seems like it wants to fight you, whenever you work with it. Can't put my finger on it, though.

Andy, I think it's the "resiliency" of the ironwood that makes it so tough to work with, in some strange way. If it was just a question of "hardness", like G10 or Micarta, that wouldn't be a problem. Just my $.02 cents.

The worst part about ironwood for me is that it clogs belts.

Yea, its the greasyness. Teak does it too, but it isn't as hard. Hard and greasy. Whoa, what a combo.

Yea, your greasy woods are belt cloggers. BUT, the advantage is that they're naturally very stable!
