Is a ZT worth it?

Beauty like is it worth it? Is a personal thing. So what is wrong with what you got? Or do you just desire something better? My grandfather use to give me money, with the stipulation that before I spent it I had to talk with him.

The conversation went like, so tell me what you are wanting to buy. Then I would reply with my answer. Than the old guy would say do you want it or need it?

Forgot to mention, if you decide that you'd prefer to spend less you could do far worse that picking yourself up a Kershaw Blur. Like many here I've been more interested in mid-tech's and customs knives the past few years but I bought a Blur not long ago and I love it...even my wife wants one of her own now.

The 0550 Gen 2 is the ZT I've carried and "used" most over the past couple years, but this 0562 looks like it will be hard to beat and it cuts great. Do be careful on campus and don't carry anything that's going to get you into trouble. Good luck with your decision!

Yes, they are worth it, but there is some variation in fit and finish so if you can see the actual knife you are getting before you buy it, all the better.

I recommend for you to get the 0770CF. Terrific usable blade shape and grind, easy size and weight for EDC, very good looking, and can be had for under $140 if you shop around.

I have many custom folders and a few production ones. ZT's work as well or better than most customs. They are almost too perfect! Amazing knives! They are the best bang for the buck that I know of! I'm not sure where I would be without mine! 801's are amazing! 550's and 560's.... WOW!

My god! You guys are such pushers! :)

The ZT is a good knife. However, and this is a big however (notice I'm using "however" and not "but" for what I hope are obvious reasons), the differences are usually only perceptible to the educated knife knut. Regular people, mundanes really, who just use knives to sharpen pencils, open packages, and maybe kill a bear, won't notice anything special. Only an actual accredited knife knut can feel the differences, the slickness of the bearings, the mind-blowing edge retention from boutique tool steels manufactured by indentured Martian metallurgists, the liberal and sometimes frivolous use of titanium and carbon fiber, these things are not available to the mere gas-station knife user, regardless of how many Harley Davidsons they have ridden upon.

So, really, is it worth it? Probably not. Stick with a lovely CRKT knife and blow the extra cash on an X-Box or something.

Im about to buy one just to have one and try out. Found a local knife shop to me that does layaway. I rather liked i think it was the 556. I like smaller knives, these were the smallest i saw. They felt great, but heavy compared to what I'm used to carrying. I stuck griptillian in N690 just to try it out. I could have paid for it that day but wanted to break up the cash and give myself a reason to go again. I think when i get my grip out i will put a ZT in :)

I love my zt's but my kershaws all came way sharper, for some reason the zt's I have gotten didn't come as sharp out of the box. But the zt's are definitely worth the price.

The Honda Accord is an excellent overall car. Do you need an Audi/BMW/Mercedes to fulfill the exact same tasks as the accord? No. But you see where I'm going with this...

Alright guys, thanks for all the great responses... to try and sum up answers to all of that in one post... I have no problem spending that much money on a knife, it will not hurt, but for the most part my CRKT knives have done everything I need, but, I feel there are better things out there... I have actually liked the styling of the 801, and as for a blem product I would have no problem with that, especially for that price, but the biggest thing I run into, is that I have large hands, and GENERALLY larger knives fit them better.... but, I love my CRKT Swindle and Ikoma Sampa, which are not large knives, so I'd really like to be able to hold it first, does anyone know any places in west Michigan that actually stock these and can be held? And I do agree with some of the other guys that an all metal handle can be annoying or unlikeable, but it is not an absolute no to me... as for what I use my knives for, many of you guys have alluded to being on campus, and I am in college, I have classes 3 days a week, and work 3 days a week, I commute, so when I am going to campus, I can pick something else, I have other options. I do landscaping for work, and currently carry a CRKT M21-14sfg I believe, which is great, but leaves some to be desired in fit and finish, and flipping action, but it cuts what I need it too and lasts decently long, though I do actually enjoy sharpening and stropping my blades. I cut weed wacker line, fertilizer/grass seed bags, small branches, and such with my knife, among the simple boxes and everything else... I'd like to get another larger blade, mostly for work use, but also EDC at times, so I don't mind if its larger. I have also been looking at the CRKT foresight, but for 85 bucks, to get a blem ZT, I may have to go for that... but I would really love to be able to hold a few models first

You'd probably really like the 0560/0561. It's a slightly bigger than average, well built knife with a really good steel that can be had for about 180-190 if you find the right seller. Carries comfortably and handles even better. Great for large or gloved hands.

I'm not so sure about ZT's anymore I have a 0350 and the lock tends to fail if I slap it on the spine against my boot with moderate force.
