Is anyone else still waiting for their Scrap Yard 1311?

Just got email from Renee. they are shipping on schedule and mine should go out next week. :)

Borderline insanity. While the 1311 is a great mini-machete, the wait time is truly unacceptable. There are other choices out there that are readily available while not having to wait too many days. I am sure they are shooting themselves in the foot with respect to some customers with patience issues. Reminds me of the Randall days...even those guys took their sweet time but that product was a custom knife from start to finish. Could it be that Dan needs to snag a few more machinists?

That being said, the 1311 is still the best thing ever to come out of the dog mill.

Randalls are not customs, and the wait times here are not excessive. People with patience issues should go ahead and buy something inferior right away.

I'm pretty sure I ordered a few days before the cut-off. No news yet (I checked my CC and I got dinged on the 24th).

In one way I'm glad it's taking so long, SYKW must have sold a bazillion knives.

I think a LOT of people liked it so much they put in a repeat order just before the cut-off, and they've been working through that backlog. I was one of those people, and I saw my CC had been charged a couple of days ago, but haven't seen any notifications or parcels yet.

IMO, the wait time (4-16 weeks) is more than made up for by the rediculous price that these (1311's) were offered at. They were supposed to retail for $240, but $200 is a flat out awesome price for 13+" of SR-101 in my opinion. I'd happily have waited for mine another 4-16 weeks because THEY ARE that awesome, but YMMV as always....

I ordered 1 on the last day they were available.
Just a few days ago I was charged on my card for it.
No shipping notice or anything yet,
Im just looking forward to getting it.

They need to hire more people or something. 14 weeks is ridiculous no matter how patient you are. They should not take that long produce your knife. They are obviously taking to many orders to produce in a reasonable amount of time. Hire more people or buy more machines if thats what you need to do.

I ordered a Randall Made 5-5 a year and a half ago it should be here in three and a half more years. Maybe you should tell Randall what they are doing wrong.

Van Damage, I can't help but notice that you seem to have a real issue with the way the Busse family companies handle their business in several of your posts here on BladeForums. Perhaps you should call and ask to speak to Jerry & Dan Busse about this instead of consistently posting here and on the Swamp Rat forum about it?

LOL, no kidding! :D

I was lucky enough to grab a spot on Scott Cook's list for a Lochsa during the 17 hours he reopened his books back in 2010 and other than an acknowledgement email, I've not heard from him and don't expect to for another few years before my name comes up. :)

10-14 weeks is a cakewalk. ;)

I don't mind the wait. I know I'll be happy with a great knife at a great price. On top of that, I could most likely use the heck out of it and still sell it for what I paid if I chose to.

Business' get to choose how they wish to operate THEIR business, NOT the customers. The only thing we as a consumer can control is where you choose to spend your dollars or not spend your dollars. If you are dissatisfied with Busse Knife Group's business model, there are plenty of other knife makers that make quality knives which are readily obtained.

The wait is tough but when you get that box.....you'll be hearing Ode to Joy in the background.

I haven't owned many but the wait for a 'kin knife that can be used and abused and still long outlast me is definitely worth it. Everyone knows going in that the orders don't ship instantly, its not a secret.

Its not so bad...........Heck, It makes me feel like a kid again waiting on Santa..........anticipation is half the fun...........and a 52 week wait on Santa:D (more elves doesn't seem to help him:rolleyes:)
I've got a Randall due March 2013...........after 5 years.
Put enough on order and you'll get a steady flow..............its all good

Van dame, do me a solid and tell Shane Sibert I've been waiting too long for my knives. This April will be 5 years and i haven't emailed him with any rude whining emails like you.

After some double checking it looks like I ordered the knife on October 12, not at the cut off. I probably remember wanting to order another at the cut-off but international shipping held me back.

And now I know that I just need to keep tabs on my CC instead of waiting for an e-mail to top it up (charge on Jan 24).

Swamprat is a bigger production company. Randall cant be compared to bussekin. I just want honest communication. If the site said 10 to 14 weeks it wouldnt be a problem. You guys tell me not to buy from them cause I want custumer service and accurate lead times, what sense does that make.

Nobody told you to do anything. I suggested that perhaps you should talk to Jerry & Dan. One other fellow suggested that if you don't like the wait, there are other makers/manufacturers that may have knives on hand to sell. Besides, how do you know how big Swamp Rat Knife Works is?

The long and short of it is...complaining here to us isn't going to help you. We don't work for Busse or Swamp Rat or Scrapyard Knives. You want answers on SRKW? ...Email Joshua. If he hasn't answered, try emailing him again.
You don't want to wait for 1311's? ...Then feel free to cancel your order if you've placed one...I'm sure that there's a second chance list already and someone on it will be very happy to take your place on the list.

Either way, it would be nice to see something positive from you on this forum... We've already experienced the negative.

I joined the forum cause I typed in swamp rat custumer service and these threads popped up with people having the same negative experiences Im having. I left hindsight a message and no answer. you guys are getting rude and whiny not me. Dont be so offended, Im sure swamp rat is bigger and big enough to maybe try and bring waits down to the ETA listed on the site. Sorry if my opinion dosent make sense to you or hurts your feelings.
