Is Elmax the new INFI 2.0?

Not as corrosion resistant as INFI but I love me some SR101, seems to keep its edge like no other for me... So Elmax will be a welcome addition. I will have to give one of them a go at some point.

Not to mention how easy it is to sharpen and how sharp it gets! Love SR101

No joke it takes a scary sharp edge easily! I use one of these fingernail buffers to hone my rats, stole it from the wife and it works like a charm!! I took another one of the blocks and hot glued wet/dry sandpaper on it from 500-1200 grit and these 2 blocks are all i need on my rats.

I'm a big ELMAX fan. I have a few custom blades in it that are outstanding. I have no doubt the Busse crew could squeeze a bit more performance out of an already excellent stainless steel.

I have a few Busse Elmax blades and they make great slicers. Awesome little knives. Pretty easy to sharpen up to scary sharp too. I have to say though, from my experience, it isn't as stain resistant as INFI. It discolours quite easily, especially when cutting meat and when left wet it gets little rust spots. This is by no means a complaint, just an observation. Personally I like satin/polished SR101 on the smaller thin blades as I quite like the patina it gets. Not to mention how stupid sharp I can get it too :)

I agree 100% bud, I could live the rest of my life happily with no other steel than SR101 its just that good for how I use a knife.

Interesting observation Rob, from its composition I would have expected it to be very stainless. I haven't personally experienced it with my ELMAX but I have never left it wet.

 Yea man it is some excellent stuff!! Now we just need a Rat chopper in the 1111-1311 size range in SR101 with some micarta goodness and ill be SET!! Not a fan of res-c, or any other rubber type handles really, i got rid of all my dogs, and my ontarios and Ka-Bars that had the rubbery handles as well.... But if we had an SR101 knife in the 11-13" range with micarta scales that would be HEAVEN.

Rat Daddy? :D

Rat Daddy? :D

Id LOVE to get my hands on a Rat Daddy :D Id be in LOVE with that thing!!!

Just res-c throws me off or id love the 1111 and 1311. its just the looks of it kills it for me really, And i started getting Rats because of ergos and looks honestly, then i fell in love with SR101. so debating between Rats and Dogs I go with Rats easily because of looks. I got a knife coming with horse stall mat as a handle material, but in this case it looks awesome on this particular knife i think. I guess im picky LMAO But if im paying good money for a knife, I want to like how it looks and performs.

I didn't like Res C in the past, having owned a couple of basics and scrappers with it.

But it is perfect on the 1311. I really like it.

I hope Jerry remembers the "New" Coke deal.

The analogy is not apt here. New Coke replaced Diet Coke, and that was a disaster. It does not appear that Elmax is replacing INFI, but supplementing it in the product line. A new flavor, if you will.
