I don't get it, but over the last few days I've seen more than one guy carry a clipped knife on the outside of their pocket.

I get it's just asking to lose it, but is there a legit reason to ever carry this way? I can't think of one....

my stepdad does and it bugs me but his reason is that his pockets are too tight so it rubs the hell out of his leg otherwise

It's a great way to have a knife stolen off of you.

I guess you can't say it was pick-pocketed since it wasn't in your pocket to begin with.

Seems like a bad idea to me. Loss of knife being the most likely negative outcome. I would suggest you ask the guys who you see doing it why they do it.

What do your local laws say about concealed knives?

As far as the question of "Is it ever ok to carry outside the pocket?", I say- to each his own. Far be it from me to tell others how they should or shouldn't carry their knives.

I never cared for pocket clips on my folding knives to begin with so I normally take mine off. I don't have to worry about such things.

No. A guy at work does that. I asked him why he does it and all he said is "I don't know". He carries a razor blade knife so if he loses it no harm, I guess.

Clipping the knife to you pocket on the outside seems rather unbalanced and likely to lose the knife.

I can see no good reason other than legality, and if legality is the reason carry an exposed neck knife for goodness sake.

Not unless you are a chick on TWD or have a hankering to lose your knife. I knew a guy that used to carry his knife that way on his belt. He lost a total of 6 knives and couldn't understand why, he actually called the company and claimed the clips were defective.
His carry method was the only thing defective.

Laws here don't prohibit concealed pocket knives. I saw a guy at work do this. I don't care but I don't get it either. I've had numerous knives clipped on the inside get snagged and pulled out. I can't imagine wearing them on the outside.

Where I am at laws don't care about being concealed or open carry

Yeah I'm guessing that's not covered under the warranty
