Is it just me or does it make you mad too?

at least its only being used on fingernails. I was doing some electrical work at a friends house and he asked to borrow my knife so without thinking about it I handed him my almost brand new bravo necker 2. He walked around the corner and proceeded to use the tip as a pry bar on a drawer! He handed me the knife back and the tip was completely wrecked. I guess you could consider yourself lucky that your blades wont be ruined by fingernails.

very rude to ask for a 'look' at someones knife then clean the grubby nails.
More polite to say "ah shit look at me filthy nails! Mind if i use yer knife to clean 'em?"

Man, most of my friends understand my growing knife addiction and know how to handle them, but there are a few notable stories.

First, a guy I met through a friend thought he would check the sharpness of my knife by pressing his thumb directly into the blade. I mean he pressed his thumb straight into the blade, and I didn't even have time to stop him. Next thing you know, he yelps out and tries to hand me back my knife and blame me for getting himself cut. I specifically asked him not to try and "check the sharpness" with his fingers, and now he is not qualified to handle anything sharp or pointy.

Second story, since I'm a college student, I meet a ton of dudes who think they are hardcore because they've handled a knife before. I accidently left my door unlocked, and my roommate decided to let his dumbass mall ninja friend know I owned knives. When I get back home, this fool is playing with one of my knives (luckily the only one I left out was a cheapo 5 dollar knife to practice sharpening on), and this fool decides to tell me he could have wasted me before I could have even reacted. After this event, my door is always locked when I leave my room, and no one except for handpicked and qualified friends are even allowed to look at my knives.

Also, even though I'm a pretty liberal person myself, going to a liberal college can sometimes have its downsides. I was working on a poster with a group of people off campus at my place, when I pulled out a SAK to use the scissors to cut open some colored paper, the girls in my group asked why I would carry a deadly weapon. Luckily, none of them happened to notice my fullsize BM Presidio :D.

I just do not like people handling my knives unless I'm sure they understand what knives are, what they should do and what they mean to me. This appears to be a very small % of world population I fear...

As for cleaning nails and scraping the funk out underneath them, that is repulsive. My knives are often used in connexion with eating not harvesting their body solids.

It's a bit like admiring somebody's armchairs then dropping your drawers and wiping yourself on the seat then "Nice upholstery that!":barf:

Whatever yhe reason, you have your knife out and another comments on 'Nice knife can i see it?' And after a quick look they use it to clean out under their fingernails!
Cant explain why but it makes me mad as hell and that person never gets to hold another kmife of mine. Is that me only or is that very rude?

I let very few people touch my knives and that is just for them to look at it. If they ask to use my knife, I always ask "what do you want to cut" then I offer to do it for them. I take offense if someone doesn't respect my tools.

If someone used my knife to clean their finger nails, I would soon ask to borrow a pen/item from them and either pick my ear or scratch myself with it. If they ask why I just did that, my answer would be "it's ok to pick your finger nails with my knife, I needed your pen to pick my ear wax".

OR borrow his kitchen measure cup next time you have a urine test.
