Is it made from Infi?

Good thread! As a sheath maker I've thought about this a lot. So far every knife sporting both steels have been different enough for a side by side obvious difference, except the TG. Sitting by themselves, with the logo removed I'd be hard pressed to tell

One particular concern is the WTF, are there differences in the BG and INFI versions? Would they fit the same sheath? Would one be able to tell the difference in a picture if the BG was stripped and satin finished?

The INFI version of the WTF is much thicker.

The Sr101 version is thinner. You would have to regain the whole blade on a mill, or grinder on the satin INFI version to get near the same width reduction to be close to the BG

I wonder if this is true across the lines. Are the holes standard for each steel in the first place?

It is all the BG's I have the holes are bigger,ASH, HR, BAT, AK even the AMS BG
Also I think the tube fasteners are different as well.

Very interesting. Maybe we should start putting some comparison pocs. This will be good for future owners that want to id a blade years from now

Team Gemini Heavy Brigade and Battle Grade

Well I do stand corrected about the choils being different for TGBGs and Infi Geminis as I was unaware until Rob's pic that there was a Heavy Brigade model...

No difference in the team gemini that I can tell, so that blows that theory out of the water.

Whoever got a BG MSE and an MSE LE could put up a side by side of the talon holes. That would be interesting to see since they were made at the same time.

Cobalt,

Wow, what a great observation! The introduction of Battle Grade versions does change everything as it relates to the secondary market. Undoubtedly people will get scammed, either selling infi that a buyer tells them is battle grade or, vice versa, buying battle grade that the seller tells them is infi. Aside from the obvious "buyer beware" warning, I'm not sure there is anything anyone can do to prevent scamming.

I'm sure there are savvy flippers somewhere celebrating right now.

So what was the final decision regarding some distinctive feature(s) besides the logo that will distinguish these from the INFI ASH1's?

The lanyard hole is 1 size larger. . . . That should prevent any confusion down the line in spite of stripping, refinishing, etc . . . .

Note that he specifies lanyard hole--not talon hole. From the following thread, Post 23:

I remember reading that the talon holes on the battle grade pieces are bigger and have no NM treatment iirc.

Yes.

We absolutely should.

I see enough chicanery. Whatever we can do to minimize that is good.

We call this"transparency" in my business.

Yeah , doesn't look like a big enough difference in the holes to me. BG should be a lot larger. Even if it's just one. Great pics Rob. Ty

Maybe the production runs on Friday have the bigger hole:D

I think we need to come up with a log of all and list them here with whatever differences we can find.

Doesn't help for buying and selling, but I'm pretty confident I could tell the difference in the metal based on sharpening it. SR-101 and INFI feel completely different. At least late model INFI. and in theory, that is the only time the two might be confused.
