Above is slightly NSFW (language), but very funny.

Kinda of a Lynn type marketer. There was a good documentary put out on him a few years ago -

I'm not really into signature production knives, though on the other hand I don't dislike them either.

I have the standard and signature versions of the Leatherneck Bowie, but I still would have bought the green handled and grey bladed version even without the signature.

IMO the signature Kobun is a bit expensive for what it is, at least when it is not on a big sale, and for a knife of that price they could have added a metal guard.

I gave my Kobun away because of the lack of a metal or even a hard plastic guard.
So I could get a taco style sheath for it.
Both versions should have had a metal or at least a hard plastic guard.
I got a $25 MTech fixed blade tanto that has a metal guard.
So I do not understand why Cold Steel Kobun lacks one.

They could easily add one.

The Kyoto is basically a mini-Kobun and it has a metal guard.

Aside from any safety issues, the thin rubber guard on the Kobun wears away much faster than the thick one on the Recon Tanto and SRK, and it is needed to clip it into the sheath.

My Kobun was used far less than my Recon Tanto and while my Recon Tanto had no issues since 1997 my Kobun from 1999 started showing wear in the guard in 2003.

I was interested in the Ti-Lite which is on sale for a great price at Cold Steel but they don't ship overseas.

The problem with shipping overseas is customs. A lot of people will demand guaranteed delivery which may be impossible.

Its entirely feasible if you use a courier. Fortunately there are still 3 good US dealers who ship internationally but their price isn't near as good as Cold Steel itself.

I'm pretty happy with the Lynn Thompson signature Kobun. Pretty cheap for what you get and makes a dandy food prep/concealed carry EDC piece.
