Is it time to rehabilitate Cold Steel? CONTROVERSIAL

I have one cs product, their axe, and I have removed 3 tree stumps with it so far. They are good with me.

I am a Spyderco fan, but totally respect Cold Steel. Around 1983/84 I met Lynn at the Pomona Gun Show in CA. and bought a Tanto. He was a really nice no BS guy. He gave me a bunch of bumper stickers and I had one on my truck for years. Said "I (heart) Cold Steel".....People used to ask me about it all the time. While I prefere Spyderco, I would carry a CS if needed and would never feel I was lacking. Great knives that take a beating.....In fact my bug out bag I carry in my car has a Pocket Bushman in it.

I consider the Pocket Bushman to be one of the most impressive utility folders ever made. Only drawback : it has no corkscrew. That's why I also own a Mercator 4 blades... for situations when opening a wine bottle is more important than slashing down vegetation.

Cold steel is what got me into the hobby after I learned of an acquaintance losing a finger to lock failure on a cheap folder. I decided to upgrade from my cheapo wal-mart folder to something that wouldn't fail... And the Tri-Ad lock was all I needed to see. I've sold my Kudu, Counter Point 2, and Large Voyager, but I still use my tuff lite every day.

I would love to see an elite line of products using different steels, though. I love the handles and lockup, but would love to see a folder in something with a little more edge retention than AUS8. M4? M390? Elmax? Any of those tough-but-sharp steels would be an instant buy for me.

Anyway, that's just me dreaming. Keep up the good work, guys, and thank you for re-releasing some of the older models (like the talwar! I might have to pick up one of those.)

The coatings that we use are tough, but they aren't indestructible, after all, they are just coatings. With enough use they will scratch.

I really like the look of well worn black blades. In fact, I often look for highly used models over new ones just for that reason alone.
