if I wanted to mention the makers name I would have ... I choose NOT TOO YET.
GENTLEMEN ... I have purchased and ordered knives from 4 to 5 makers on this forum... and it would be UNFAIR to digg/guess.
fact is ... multiple people have paid deposits and full payments too JOHN DOE ... AND IT IS OBVIOUS HE IS BROKE.
now taken over 5 weeks to hear nothing but promises and lies about a REFUND he said he needed a "couple of weeks"
to get together.
I also know that by mentioning the NAME ...followers/fans and zombies will come out of the shadows and turn threads
into battle zones. I have more respect for the forum than that.
I figure if I do not see the REFUND by weds of this coming week ... I will write a thread/post TO THE FACTS and leave it
to the facts to speak the truth.
 
Real shame ... had wanted "input" on the fraud question and it turns into a hunt to see WHO IT IS ...
Seems people digging and sending emails to find out who etc.
Like I said , I have dealt with 4 or 5 knifemakers here on the forum.
Here it is ... Back before June I communicated with DANIEL KOSTER on a nessmuk knife.
It became very clear by the end of September the knife was not being MADE in the time frame as promised.
A refund was asked for and he ASKED FOR A COUPLE OF WEEKS TO GET IT TOGETHER...
NOW OVER 5 WEEKS WAITING ... he told me it was in the mail last Saturday ... and I did not receive it this week.
(HE HAD TOLD ME NOT TO EMAIL HIM AGAIN.) * Finally last night he told me it went out in the mail yesterday.
NOT EVEN SURE IF I BELIEVE HIM NOW ... all I wanted was my money BACK aka refund after it was clear to me ,
one he was not going to produce the knife any time soon ... and LOOKS LIKE I MAY NOT SEE MY REFUND.
I know he has some real big FANS here and hope my experience may help others avoid the problems I have had.
Too many good honest trustworthy knife makers out there like GRAY WOLF KNIVES , JK Handmade knives , Sugar Creek Knifeworks
and Blind Horse knives and one of my favortites Morris Knives .... too many good honest men to deal with to put up
with lies and half truths.
All I wanted was a nice Nessmuk style knife to play with and call my own... was not asking for much.
and I promised him if I do not see the REFUND ... I will be pressing charges for the transaction he cannot do.
Many people have given him payments and deposits and by his own words , he did not or does not have
my 210 dollar refund. Sad state of affairs.
Now I would assume his fans will chime in , in his defense and I will say no more.
he owes me a 210 dollar refund I have not seen in 5 weeks or more... fact.
 
First I want to say that I am sorry you are having a hard time with a knife purchase. But, if you post on a public forum that you have a problem with someone and do not say who it is, don't be surprised if you get emails or people look at older posts to see if they can figure out what happened.

Hope everything works out to your satisfaction.

There are at least two issues that folks here are grappling with. First is how to minimize damage to the community here at large. I am talking about prospective buyers who may choose to have the maker create something for them, but who may have not yet done so. The second issue is how to make you whole again. By that, I mean how to get your money back to you. Both need to be addressed. By naming the maker, you help us to know who it is that we may want to think twice about in dealing with. You have named the maker now and, in doing so, hopefully you have put someone else on notice that if they should go with a custom knife from Mr. Koster, there may be very rough waters ahead. Now we need to focus on getting you your $$$ back.
 
like to see my money returned...
hard for anybody to save money anymore.
Harder for people like me living disabled and having a fixed income with no COLA in 3 years.

FINALLY , got a envelope today from Mr Koster, A CHECK for the amount of the refund.
(took 6 weeks to get)
taking it to the bank and have the bank manager handle the deposit of it now.
Hope I am DONE dealing with Mr Daniel Koster ...
too many other GOOD knifemakers out there.
 
Glad to hear that you apparently received your money back.

Never pay for a knife up front; especially if it's only a $210 knife!
 
... thought I was dealing with a GOOD knife maker , should have checked on him more before dealing with him.
FOUND too many negative posts and comments after I had problems with him.
6 weeks to finally get this refund ... speaks volumes on it's own.
Last time I make that mistake.
 
I'll gladly refund you your money. I need 2 weeks to put it together. I will email you when I send it.
copy/quote D.Koster 9/27/11 ... and when he said he sent it ... he did not and finally sent it
a week later.
took 6 weeks and one day to get it ... more than the 2 weeks he said he needed ...
FACTS.
Yes I will be more careful whom I deal with from now on ... I am not financing failing operations anymore.
