Is it worth buying multiples of certain knives?

At one time, a few years ago, I owned five ZT 0777 Damascus knives....

Trades and unexpected bills (both kids wrecked cars) have reduced that total to one... Glad to have had backups... But I hope to hold onto the last one awhile longer
When you’re ready to let it go let me know! Ha

Sure, if you really like them.

I've got
3 Kershaw Leeks
2 Kershaw Shuffle 2s, I had 3,but broke one.
A buttload of Mora Companions
1 of each sized Crooked River, and am seriously wanting several from their custom shop.

I will probably get a few more Leeks, I will probably get a few Kershaw Emerson CQC-7Ks.

Now most of these are cheap knives that I absolutely thrash. Case in point, the Shuffle that i broke the blade on.
If my financial situation was different(better), I would definitely have more than one of some more expensive pieces.

Hey everyone,

Got a question for you, but first I'll give you a brief backstory.

I've got a few knives in the mail at the moment but currently edc a gayle bradley 1. I love the gayle bradley 1 knife and the thought of purchasing another one has crossed my mind a few times. My question to you is...is it a waste of money to buy multiples of knives in the same steel?

My EDC is a GB 1. The reason for multiple purchases is that they make great gifts. I bought three Spyderco Pacific Salts to give to my friends who take me out on their boats. The cost of shipping was less than if I bought them individually. They were very happy I can tell you. If I see a knife that really clicks I may buy multiples to gift, trade, or sell in the future.

as one member wrote so eloquently... "unless I have two... I have none..." (yes, it is a sickness...)

I've got atleast 20 Buck 112s and 110s. I just cant leave them when I run across a nice example for $20 at the pawn shop or flea market.

I've got 4 or 5 Victorinox Tinkers.

In my eyes knives are tools. You cant have too many tools!

If you find a knife that you really like, that just fits you, it seems very reasonable to get more than one. This mostly applies to discontinued or no longer in production pieces. If a knife is part of a standard manufacturers lineup, then you can grab another at any time.

I look at it like if I find denim that I like the fit and materials of, I get another pair.

Most things, even knives, have a finite lifespan. If I like something a lot, I'd like to make sure I can keep using/wearing that thing continually.
