Is It Worth It to Customize a Benchmade?

I’ve been really tempted to order a custom grip in cf with a satin 20cv sheep’s foot blade......

Can you get $310 worth of enjoyment from it? If you have to think before you answer that, then it might not be worth it.

I am always will say yes for customisation, it adds so much of personality, even if some times it’s looks quite ugly :D
About cost it’s really easy - if you ready to spend it worth the price, if not ready it’s don’t :)

CC2FAD8A-8C30-4D8E-B7EA-7141D6ECC8B1.png I like the Crooked River but I’m not into all the little color accents. So I did a custom shop build, all black except wood scales and M4 steel for toughness. It was worth the 300 for me.

I did it and mine had a some bad QC issues. For the money, I'd say it's not worth it unless it's the only possible way to get exactly what you want. Even then, you should understand that you can pay $350 for a Benchmade and still have the same QC as one of their entry level models.

Nowadays if I wanted something semi-custom, I'd pick a Spyderco sprint in the steel I want and customize it with aftermarket scales and finishes, but that's just me.

If you can get it exactly how you want it, sure why not. I liked the crooked river and love Damasteel and I got lucky enough to find this on the exchange for about 20% less than new.from Benchmade.IMG_20200915_055808.jpg

Wouldn t be worth it to me. But I ve never bought a knife for the appearance.

Still thinking about that hooker line. May have to do that sometime.

IMO, yes...mine was worth it. Knowing I like black and wood scales my wife ordered my Mini-CR in S90V for me last spring, and it’s perfect. She added our initials on the blade, so I only carry it on special occasions. One day it will be passed on to one of my daughters or grandchildren.

Only if its one you plan to keep, you probably won't get your money back if you sell it down the road.

I love playing around on the BM website; with the different options I could get specifically with the Grip and the crooked river....I just haven’t been able to justify the price increase yet, but I would love a blacked out CR in 20cv....

Just wondering for you guys that have ordered them, how long does it take for them to build and ship a custom Benchmade knife?
