Photos Is less better ?

I use to collect quite a few Case knives, old Pumas and others. Sold them all to finance getting into better knives. Spydercos, Benchmades, fixed blades etc.
Always had just one fixed blade most of my life. A USMC for probably 30 yrs.
I’m up to 4 fixed blades, including a 1941 West-Cut. Still want to get a good four inch hunting/outdoor fixed.
Probably 10 or 12 folders that I might actually use.
Not a collector anymore, but still am captivated by one of the greatest tools ever invented.

I have 8-10 nice folders at any one time. I simply can’t afford to have more money in my “luxury hobby”, so instead I buy used, sell, and trade for what I’d like to try out. And if I don’t use it, it gets sold or traded.

But that doesn’t mean I can’t own a few expensive ones. 😉 So in my case, I keep and use the ones I truly love.

I am with you OP. The more I had the less I felt I could enjoy each one individually.
I don't like that feeling, it feels wasteful to me. I don't want to forget what I have.
And there is just something about having only but favourites in my 'collection'.

I am down to 2 folders, but soon to add another 2.
And I have about 6 fixed blades which I will reduce also when I can decide what to sell (because I know there are others I want in the near future)😅

I'm aiming for a total of 10 fixed and folders.

Hello,

This year I decided to slim down my collegtio
I had +/- 150 off bit at some point I have realised that I was not really carrying, handling or using most of them …. What was a hobby for me turned into an accumulation I felt
So I decided to sold most of what I have and I am now in the ~35 off - which is still a lot 😅 - but at least I have the time to carry and use them.
I am at a point where I enjoy more having less knives, but knives that I really appreciate.

Anyone as on a similar path ?

Just for the thread to be fun, share pictures of what you keep in your collection after the cut down
🤘
Same. I have a one-in-two-out policy and am currently working on moving more.

You decide to move that LG or that SHF, you let me know!

Yeah........I noticed I had my favorites.......
A lot were just unused sitting in my knife box. I started giving them away to friends.
Now I have maybe 24 knives.
With the cost of everything going up including knives.
I'm happy with the knives I've kept.......
Not planning on buying a any new knives.

Beautiful blades but you gotta own at least one fixed blade. 😁

So true.
Only have a couple of beater as fixed blade…. May be the start of something new 😅😁
In keeping with the theme of your post, IMO, the regular guy only really “needs” one fixed blade. I’m thinking like a Kephart style, BK-16, or even the Esee Izula. I’m also eyeing the Bradford Guardian as a pocket dump knife, but I have no real need for it.

Choppers are nice but axes are perfectly fine for big boy duties.

I agree
Before I went into the hobby of collections folders, I only had a victorinox climber and an Esee 4.

For me these are real tops and I don’t really take them as an hobby
