Is my favorite knife, now a safe queen!? Use it or no?

Howdy folks.
Long time no see!

This question is aimed more-towards the collectors in here.
More-so the KAI collectors.

My ZT 0200 is my favorite knife. I like it more than my Sebenza, no joke.
But I still use it.
I've dropped it, chipped the secondary, chopped with it, cut cans with it etc.

So it's used.
Not a mark on the scales, nice early lockup with no play, and the DLC is only slightly worn.

As many of you know, it is recently discontinued.
Being that it is only slightly used, is it "worth more" now?
Should I still carry and use it like nothing is different, or am I sitting on something that will be worth more than the $200 I paid for it (someday)?

Does anyone know if ZT keeps parts around for discontinued knives should I ever need the warranty?

It sounds like the blade might have a bit more wear than "Like new" would dictate. Is there any way you can post pics?

Don't put it in the drawer to be forgotten!!
Sharpen it like you love it........use it like you stole it!!

I used to be able to, but my photo bucket is completely full. There's no "scratches" that go through the DLC, but if held in the right light, mars are visible.

zt's are made to be used, i would use it, just do not abuse it the proper way to use any knife or tool, collectable or not!!

the way I look at everything is, I could be dead in a week so why try to keep things like knives somewhere safe, when the only real reason to have a knife is to use it... and it's not like it's a one of a kind handmade Moran or anything. I'm sure if you break it in 7 years, there will be lots of them on the internet for sale... and lots that someone kept in a drawer that never cut cans. JMHO

I personally wouldn't call it slightly used after that description but that's just me. Obviously you really like it, just use it! I wouldn't think it'll ever be worth much more than you paid for it. It had a good long run with somewhere between 15,000 - 20,000 or so knives being made. That's quite a few!

That's what I'm thinking so far. I just would like some more opinions.
The way I see it, if I own it, what joy is it bringing me being in a drawer for 30 years?

I'm sure it'll still be going strong!

For a little while but once they are gone...well they are gone. If you do need something and they have no parts or its discontinued they will usually offer to trade it out on something currently in the lineup and similar in price, or offer you a "credit".

You know, in photo bucket, you can create albums? I have one for guns and knives. Another for my bike. Another for my Lightning. Another for chicks in thongs. etc. I wonder if this allows you to have more. Because I have probably 1000 pics in my PB account.

Don't know if you know this, so figured I'd post it.

It's used to the point that it'll never have any collector/resale value except if someone is looking to buy a user. No point in relegating it to safe queen status unless it has so much sentimental value to you that you don't want to accumulate any more wear and tear. In my opinion as a bit of a ZT fan, an 0200 is meant to be a workhorse.

Use it. It's what it's built for. If you just want something to look at and fondle with, then there are a lot of other things that looks better and more fun to play than a knife. You can even replace the blade with ZT if it broke.
Taste will change, and who knows 10 years later ZT will have newer models that makes you wonder why you got 0200 in the first place, and regretted not using it.

It is beyond used, and has no resale value, except to someone who wants to buy one to use. I agree with everyone else, keep using it.

I say USE it. But if you love as much as it seems, maybe pick up another from KershawGuy for safe keeping and as a back up. Just a thought.

It is not going to appreciate significantly in value - especially if you paid $200 for it. NIB are selling for considerably less. Use it.

My 0200(kw) lives in my pocket. I forced it out for a while to experiment with CRK, Hinderer, Strider, etc; but it found its way back. My only regret is selling the 0200sw I purchased as a backup; but I haven't replaced it because I know I'm not likely to ever need it.
