I think controlling the temperature and the atmosphere are the most important...

One question though,...When do you want an oxidizing atmosphere?

Tai you SHOULD know that one, to enhance the hammer finish!

I actually like to keep it reducing. Of course the minute you pull it out it gets oxidized,... which should be enough.
