is sr-101 worth the money

is sr-101 worth the money...

Yes, yes it is... ;)

Infi versions usually aren't double the price; the Team Gemini Light Brigade (INFI) was $387 when I bought mine and the Battle Grade (SR-101) sold for $257 FWIW...

INFI or SR101; neither will let you down in my experience.:cool:

the one i was looking at was the bunker buster LE in INFI was 537 and the BG was 287 i went for the battle grade but if i found one with a price difference lower i would have jump on it.

Good thread, I've been having this exact debate over the weekend. Not sure which I'll end up going for.

You should make up your mind soon i chose mine based on funds and how much i wanted to lie about how much i actually paid but, i got the last call warning on Sunday April 24 and they don't usually last long after that. Tell me what u go for the next one based on the price, i really want an ifni for the collection.

Yes, but you are paying more for a limited edition satin finish. With both being the same finish the price is 2/3 of INFI roughly. Still a lot of money. INFI gives you extreme toughness and better corrosion resistance as well as wear resistance. IT is up to you to decide if you need that much more. I don't think that most people would ever stress SR101 to make a difference, and thus SR101 will do.

Thank you i only saw them use the INFI in the limited edition so far so eventually they should put some out hopefully when im ready to buy again.

It's not just toughness in deciding Infi vs SR101. The Infi blades resist corrosion better and if they came uncoated have a much more refined finish on the flats of the blade. I love SR101 but no blade that I stripped blade was ever as pretty as one in Infi.

Edit: I just saw Cobalt' post above so I suppose I am restating the obvious. ;)

I would take a knife with SR101/52100 over a doubly priced INFI knife any day....so yes, it's worth it!

Corrosion resistance is one of the most important aspects of a knife steel to me, and even with that said, I love 52100 so much because of the ultra sharp edge that it easily obtains & it's got plenty good edge holding & toughness for how I use knives. 52100/sr101 is my most "fun" knife steel...I'd rather have a CPM stainless or ELMAX, but there's nothing like a thin 52100/101 edge for that stupid sharpness, with ease.

I actually find SR101 holds an edge better than INFI. I think the toughness card is unlikely to come into play for most knife uses, but INFI with a satin finish is much more stain resistant than uncoated SR101. All this has been stated already. For both steels, many of the blades I have are too thick behind the edge for my uses, but all Bussekin's I own are top quality and if you don't mind reprofiling a bit, will be nearly indestructible and good cutters. I usually go with SR101 if that is an option, to save money, but like both.
