Is the 5 going away?

Thanks guys, I'll be giving that a go soon.

They can be a little hard on a baton. But it is a branch you find in the woods, so big deal

So what you're saying is they make feather sticks and kindling at the same time!

They just rock,

Tell the truth: you chopped that roast with the tomahawk. We all would, it's ok.

That stripped pair looks fantastic, btw.

There has been no official announcement and I will not make it here and now....... It is no secret that two of the best knives in the Becker line have been mediocre sellers.......

I cannot tell you how sad this makes me as I love the Five and I like the Fifteen a lot...... If for no other reason than what a Five can teach you if you try using it for everything for a while....... It is a blade that has a lot of information within it, a lot..... Jerry designed that blade decades ago and it has taught me that If Mr. Fisk croaked tomorrow and I live another fifty years he will still be ahead of me and it will not be close........... If you really spend some time with the Five you will find it quite enlightening....... One of my great joys is to watch a good martial arts guy pick up the Five at a show....you can see the magic happen....... The balance and lightning speed gets 'em every time.........We had a Five only gathering and I think it safe to say that the participants were damned impressed......I know watching it wielded by a bunch of folks was very interesting......... It is a GREAT knife....... Get 'em while we got 'em.......

I just wanted to make sure I understood this statement.
Is this referring to the versatility and history of the blade or something else?? Thanks

Both bud. Knowing where the design comes from and learning how to use this knife is very fulfilling. I'm very proud to carry my 5 and 15. There isn't much it/they can't do. But watch out for hard knots. The 5 is my go to knife.

Just want to chime in here.... The BK5 might be going away, but my BK5 is not going anywhere.

Wow - I love this blade!

Picked up 2 #5s. One for myself and one for my soon to be squeezed out son. When he's old enough and proved himself responsible enough of course.

I like to take one tool and just use it for everything sometimes. It's fun and you learn so much about the blade. The 5 will shine in that situation.

That's something that should certainly be done more often by me. Take a new to me blade design and put it through an overall test.

Just ordered my first very own Becker this evening. It just happened to be a #15. :)

Congrats, you will Love it. You might have some reservations about using it as hard as it can handle, but if you take your time and learn the knife, you will be surprised at what that thin knife can do.

My next was going to be a 16, but this just made a 15 show up at the door. I'm loving it, but I think it needs to be stripped, it looks like it will love meat.

Folks often talk about the "thin" 15, well it's blade is thick enough that it won't fit in the slots of my knife block. Tried for a while to get the wife to use it and she said it was "too heavy", she's alittle spoiled by her Murray Carter and Buck kitchen knives I guess. No it ain't a BK2, but should handle most outdoor jobs quite well within reason. It's not a wedge, prybar or Buick destroyer, but boy is it a knife!
PS Same goes for the BK5, maybe more so!
