is the BGASH1 the best Ash for survival use??

Lol dare I say there's a bit of an overreaction here --- no one claimed SR-101 would rust upon being gazed on by Teary Wet Eyes ----- but to not admit that INFI would be superior would be silly. Sure on maybe a 5 inch or less blade that's used solely for cutting, one might have some slim grounds to suggest it's better --- but a survival blade that would be a One & Done Survival Blade ---- INFI trumps ;) ---

(That's Was Not. Donald Trump reference -- although the mysteries of his hair are on par with the mysteries of INFI)
I'll just leave these here:

Cliff has his experiences --- I have mine ---- and others have their own. As I said over and over again --- you can't go wrong with either one. As I said over and over again -- no one said that SR-101 begs to rust like a high school virgin thirsting to lose it.

SR-101 is AWESOME!! I have owned and still own many!

INFI is AWESOMERERERER ---- just my 3 cents ;)

And yes I'm hungry which may be the reason why this comment above sounded a little grumpy. We ran out of Kabob meat and I didn't have time to pick some up --- so I'm a sad and grumpy little Piggy

I hate it when I agree with Rob Mob. but I absolutely do, he speaks the truth-plain and simple

Agreed. Except it's going to take a whole lot more than 3 cents to make up the difference in price. ;)

For the amount of money I save buying SR101 knives, I'll just have to force myself to get by with plain old AWESOME and leave the RERERER to those who can afford it. Fortunately, in the 11+ years I've been here, AWESOME hasn't let me down . . . not even once. And what's this nonsense I hear that SR101 can't take it in a knife with a blade longer than 8"? Seriously??? Some of you guys really do need to get out more. Check this out:

If anyone finds themselves in a situation where their chopper has to perform better than that, my prayers are with them.

PS: You don't have to look past Jerry Busse to see where Jerry's biggest competition comes from. If Battle Grade Busses don't prove it, nothing will. Thanks to Jerry and the entire Wauseon team for making a lot of folks' dreams come true by producing classic BC designs in SR101.  If you don't think I'm hankering for a Battle Grade Boss Jack, you are seriously mistaken. That's one knife I couldn't possibly pass up. :)

I am sorry Rob, i'm afraid I may be developing those intermost feelings for you, I can't help myself, and now the Custom Shop is basically not accepting any new modifications, new handles, etc on knives! I am torn, and you are always there for me! Thanks Rob
Thanks Tommy! ;) but why do you hate it when you agree with me ;)

Don't quit on our BladeForums Bromance!!

Anyone who has a 1311 can attest to SR-101's effectiveness. SR-101 with the Busse heat treat is fearsome and ferocious. However, I find myself re sharpening SR-101 vs re stropping/steeling INFI after heavy chopping. Just my experience though. Keep in mind how thin the edge is makes a difference.

Lmao --- hilarious <3

Ok so, SR101 choppers are great too, and Rob and Tommy are fighting feelings for one another, is that where we are at? I'm just trying to keep up

Yes, this is the sort of things that happen when large quantities of INFI are not Available

Don't get me wrong. I own INFI and I love INFI. But I own a LOT more SR101 for the simple reason that it's hard for me to justify the price delta between SR101 and INFI based on their performance differences. The only area that INFI really trumps SR101 is corrosion resistance. And corrosion resistance with SR101 has never been a problem for me because I know how to take care of my knives.

The way I see it, if we agree that INFI is "all that", then SR101 is "most of that" at a fraction of the price. And for me at least, price matters.

For the 13,654th time we all agree SR 101 is great steel-I do not believe anyone here has said anything different-we were only stating the differences in the 2 steels (Infi-SR 101) just ordered two of the TGLB's in SR-101-Can someone please close this thread NOW-It is amazing how everyone in the world has the best knife and best steel because they own it!

I'm just glad I preordered the Trash1 while they were available out of 1095....pretty sure it's going to be the best thing going
