Is the crkt m16-13sf worth buying?

I have the small version of the M16-FDZ (AUS8, zytel) I picked up from SMKW when they were on sale for $17. I really like it, but I wish it held an edge better.

That's my only gripe with them, I'm not a fan of serrations, I can overlook that, but AUS8 and serrations makes it no longer my favorite, though I own a M16-13T and have owned a few others that have passed.

crkt m16-13sf is over priced. I have a friend who is going to sell me the crkt m16-13sf at a more reasonable price.

Can someone who owns the crkt m16-13sf comment on it?

Do the double flippers make it hard to get out of the pocket? Will the double flippers stick out of a sheath?

I have the large M21 Special Forces in G10. It's very solid and I love the G10 but I hate the double flippers. The top flipper is right where I want to put my thumb. Makes for a very awkward grip unless you are using a full fist grip like you would a combat knife. I guess that's what the SF models were intended for. I'm not a big fan of serrations in general. I will probably sell it and buy the plain edge non-SF M21 G10.

I have the M21 Special Forces and the top flipper is a good wave feature. I preffer hammer grip than saber grip for combat, so no problem with my thumb.

I think the M16 series offers a great buy in a "tactical" folder. It's reasonably priced and has good features.

I have a large M16-04 and it is similar to the size of the large M21-04. The large size models are too big to edc in my opinion. That is why i'm looking in to the M16-13 SF.

It's an excellent knife. I believe you can avoid the Veff with a PE G-10 model, but I haven't checked.

This is a knife designed for either hard push cuts, or forward stabs. It's not a very good EDC knife, although it does work in that capacity if you need it to. The double flippers work as a (I think they call it a True-Hilt) hilt so as long as your hands on the handle, you hand can't slip down and onto the blade.

The steel is adequet. Most people bitch about AUS-8, until they realize that it's the same as 8Cr13MoV, and a step above 440C. It's a good working steel, and will take abuse. It's high on the "toughness" scale, but it's edge retention is a bit sub par.

The AutoLAWKS feature is one of my favorites. It prevents the liner lock from closing until you pull the little switch at the top back. It makes this an extremely secure folder.

The flipper on the top does stick out of the pocket a bit, as well as the one on the back. It's best for tip down carry, not something you'd want tip up.

its a little pricey, i found it on ebay for about $60.
it kinda tacticool but spend your money on something better.
if u want an inexpensive tacticool knife then ya, its worth it

I just took delivery of a M18, black Ti handle slabs with the green g10 inlays in a pse of AUS8a. Has the manual Lawks which I like better than the auto. Forgot they even made this folder until I saw it for a extremely cheap ass price. The designation is M18-14KE whatever that means. I have to say for the amount of money I paid for it I could see these going for a good buck as the build quality is EXCELLANT throughtout. I have owned the M21 and the M16 too, which my son carries on occassion and they seem to be robust knives. Go for it. keepem sharp

It's not "tacticool." It's a very well built hard use knife. It works well for SD as well. Not as well as say a Spyderco Military, but well enough. It's an overbuilt knife, similar to Emerson knives, although I'd have to say 154CM is better then AUS-8.

It takes a great edge, easy to resharpen, and it won't chip like some S30V type steels. The edge tends to bend, rather then chip or break. I've done some testing with my M21-SFG (8Cr13MoV, not AUS-8, but very similar) and it takes concrete hits like a pro. 10 minutes on my Lansky and it's back shaving hair.
