Is the forum slow for anyone else on desktop?

Having dealt with back end systems I can say that there are times when an upgrade is not the issue. If this is shared hosting, or virtual servers, something else could be bogging down the environment and BladeForums is a victim. New doesn't always equal faster, unfortunately. The company I work for has some older software out there that takes performance hits on the new versions of SQL Server, because Microsoft tweaked how some of it works. We have to tell SQL Server to emulate the old way it worked, for right now. It takes time, money, and a lot of patience to chase down performance problems, because they don't throw errors you can find easily.

Honestly I'd be shocked if BF didn't have a dedicated server considering the amount of paid members and vendors. The reality is any hosting company worth it's weight should be able to narrow down the load time issue pretty quickly. Most of the images on the site aren't even hosted here, and while I agree that "troubleshooting" is costly in more ways than one, a forum script like this isn't exactly reinventing the wheel.

Love this place, but it's been getting crazy slow and very frustrating lately. Just took me 34 seconds to "thank" a PM reply.

Well I don’t know why this is but when I’m on my phone away from WiFi it works great but as soon as I get in range of any WiFi it goes to s-l-o-o-w. So now I’m running on just my cellular feed and it seems to be working fine on my phone and iPad.
Is it a certificate problem or routings?

Still slow and still this(I know you don't wanna see this again but I just did):

I understand that there are probably some very good reasons, but on a superficial level I find it ironic that the ONLY forum-type site for which I pay every year to be a member is also the only one which has these issues. Maybe a ton more folks come here . . . I don't have the stats. But some of the other sites are among the largest and most popular sites for coins, certain sports, news, cigars, general interest . . . I mean, I dunno but I think Reddit for example is pretty popular, and free, and I never ever, experience these issues there. I see all these ads for AWS . . . is that something that might be useful here? Seems to me that there are a lot of smart computer-savvy folks here - maybe one or more of them can help figure it out?

Hey BFers, GOOD NEWS!!! I've found a fix for the forum's slow load times!

I open up BF, then I open another tab, go to YT and watch a TED Talk... and voila! By the end of the TED Talk, BF is loaded for me in the original tab!!!

ok, ok....not a FIX, as such, I confess  ...more like a hack, yah, that's the ticket, it's a hack :D.....what? no? o_O.... would you believe coping skill? 😅 .................maybe?

As usual, everything is fast and smooth early in the morning, then increasingly bogs down as the day goes on. I would assume it has something to do with volume of traffic, but I don't claim to understand computers.

I don’t know about you fellas but it ain’t all that bad for me. There are times I have to refresh to load but all in all, it’s same same for me on the iPhone. Oh well.

:poop::poop: In order to come here and complain again, I got logged out...had to log in again...received a 522 error...and NOW .

shouldn't it really be 5.22 MILLION ERROR? Chronic it is and even if I'm in Europe 7 hours ahead of NYC it makes little difference if I use the Forum at a time when many of you are snoring away.

Is anybody actually listening.....;)👻💩💀

Fine all day but since around 5pm EST it has been slow as frozen snot when trying to do literally anything. Reminds me of last time when it was this bad we would get the 8pm EST slowdown you could set a watch to.

Sadly, I spend less time here as it has been so slow over the last few weeks/months. Is a bummer.
