Is the PM2 too perfect?

I bought my 3rd PM2, a S110v. Been EDC'ing it for a few days and I get the same feeling about it that I had about the two before. It just does not wow me. I mean, I cannot find anything wrong with it. I find it a near perfect size and weight for EDC. Grip, jimping, bladeshape are perfect. F&F is flawless....Then why do I get a meh feeling with it? I mean I do like this one better that the previous ones because of the blurple colored G10, but that is about it.

Maybe I need to up my meds.....:D

Nobody says you have to love the PM2. I didn't even like it when I got my first one, even though I liked just about everything about it.
I have a couple that I like now; but they still don't get a ton of pocket time...and, when they do, I've always got another knife accessible (folder in my pack or jacket, or a fixed wherever)

My thoughts about the PM2 are as follows . Perfect EDC and I always seem to make a full circle back to it and it always ends up getting into my edc rotation more then not . Excellent slicer, carries well and fun to do couch exercises with :) flicking open with multiple fingers lol .
Been so happy with the pm2 I have no desire to get a pm3 . For me the pm2 is the perfect size for edc [emoji106]
Love my Pm2 m390 !

When I want to carry some fun or different, I will carry something besides the PM2 (not that flicking the PM2 isn't fun). When I want to carry something I trust, know will always function well, and do anything I need it to, I carry the PM2.

Last year I did a 12 day, 170 mile hike across Illinois through the Shawnee forest. Although I brought along a fixed blade, I almost exclusively used my PM2 just to see how it would hold up. And I used it a lot, every day, often for tasks that were somewhat abusive. Toward the end of the hike there were a few days of severe flooding, and I had to do multiple high water crossings and forgot to take the PM2 out of my pocket. This resulted in it getting tons of sediment and sand and other debris all throughout it. It still functioned just fine and locked up perfectly. Plus, the compression lock was extremely easy to rinse clean. For me, that experience was enough to illustrate the greatness o the PM2. Even if it may be a bit vanilla, it is a perfect user blade, and the various colors and steels add some awesome variety!

Nearly perfect. If it only had a less fragile tip for some light prying and an Emerson wave then it would be perfect.

It was my main EDC for a few years and I've owned multiple sprints and exclusives, but these days I find myself preferring smaller, lighter, slicier folders, like the Delica or the Native 5 LW. When I reach for a bigger knife, I tend to go for the Endura, because I find that it carries easier and again a better slicer, especially in the HAP40 Sprint version. But yes, it's an incredible piece of engineering and it sure is fun to play with.

It's a utilitarian design. I tend to get more excited for designs that are a bit unusual or have some bling.

It is quite perfect. I grabbed a Para 3 and I am trying to like it, but keep thinking I should sell or trade for another PM2.

And because threads are better with pictures.... (Even poor quality ones)

Agreed, the PM2 is really a no frills, no bling type of knife, and I love it for that. It just gets the job done, i'll go in cycles where I like my flippers, ball bearings, etc. but I always come back to the PM2.

I get like that with any knife eventually. I carry a pm2 about 75% of the year, but after carrying something else for awhile, it brings back the excitement to a knife you use all the time. Kind of reminds you of all the reasons we love it so much.

It seemed the perfect knife when I bought it years ago, but I never warmed up to it, and it has pinched my finger whilst opening for the last time, so I have a fairly new one from years ago.

Too perfect?

No.

The handle is perfect, but the blade has another handle on it that keeps it from cutting as well.

Bleh. Finger choils are redundant.

The PM2 is a great knife. What would make it perfect would be if it were a Military with a compression lock.

The PM2 is near perfect, but I get bored after a while irrespective of how perfect a folder is. That's why I like to rotate between different steels and sizes and designs. Variety is the spice of life.

Yeah the pinching is slightly annoying.
