Is the PM2 too perfect?

I bought my 3rd PM2, a S110v. Been EDC'ing it for a few days and I get the same feeling about it that I had about the two before. It just does not wow me. I mean, I cannot find anything wrong with it. I find it a near perfect size and weight for EDC. Grip, jimping, bladeshape are perfect. F&F is flawless....Then why do I get a meh feeling with it? I mean I do like this one better that the previous ones because of the blurple colored G10, but that is about it.

Maybe I need to up my meds.....:D

I have had numerous PM2s. I get the exact same feeling. I think its the compression lock for me and its in a weird size range (again for me). I am lefty and the lock is kind of a PITA. Combine that with the fact that I either want a small knife or a big knife and I get the "meh" response out of it.

Mabe a lefty PM3 would do it for me.

The Military is my go to. Its big, light, slim and more lefty friendly with the liner lock. As soon as the lefty version drops I will be on it. I may try the lefty PM2 when it comes out as well.

The Pm2 is one heck of a knife, its rare that I will own multiples of the same knife. The only negative for me, it is a pain in the rear to take apart and reassemble.

Too perfect? Not out of the box.

Adding some quality scales and accessories really take it over the edge however!

I think the compression lock is very left hand friendly to operate.

I love the Para2 but it isn't perfect. I would change a couple of things. Thinner blade stock is really the big one.

Screwdriver, it is a good sign that you are impervious to the hype machine. The internet would have you believe that there is something wrong with you if you don't like it but we simply are not all gonna like the same knife.

However, don't let that stop you from upping your meds.

I really like the Para 2, but I like a lot of other Spydercos too. It's not perfect, but it's really well done. I will say it's probably the best design for true one handed use, in my opinion.

I absolutely love my PM2's I would pay good money for a full custom PM2 on bearings I think that would be the perfect PM2 for me. But the production is pretty close to perfect in my eyes as it is.

Just got this one and it is a onion destroyer :).
With GB1,PM2 M390 makes it my all time favourite Spyderco.

no!not quite perfect, but real close!no matter how i try carry the PM2 its handle size/grip is a bit to large for me and about 75% of most people on planet earth,i think they did the right thing on the para 3) i would say this one be vary close to perfect size for a EDC!but still having trace roots to the PM2,although there calling it a totally new design, and i will add its going to be around for a long time!like PM2 with sprints to come, thank you spyderco.....

PM2 is my fav it's my only knife I have multiples of (its just that good, I carry a different one each day)

The knife just fits my hands is an extension of my arm

Personally I agree about extra finger choil I'd ditch that for a flipper extension and viola as perfect as your going to get this side of heaven

I'd also like to see compression lock military 2 with tip up/down right/left carry, I'm going to try the military sooner or later I'm just not a big proponent of RIL or liner locks, something about putting soft fleshy things in the way of sharp things when closing that causes me to say "who the %*{! thought that was smart"

I've had a PM2 for a few years now and for some reason I have just never warmed up to it. I think part of the problem is the choil that results in a rather short cutting edge. I think I need to dig it out of my knife retirement box and take it for a spin again.

I, too, would prefer my PM2 with sharpened edge all the way to the handle. I use mine at work and I never use the finger choil, not once. The handle is great without the choil. So it isn't "perfect" for me, but it beats everything else I've tried. I don't desire a flipper, just more edge.

I've had two, gave both away to my sons. Loved the size and the compression lock at first, then realized the Military was a better knife for me.

I don't like having to shift my grip to cycle the compression lock when closing, unlike frame and liner locks. Also, the blade shape bugged me for some reason, just like the Military's better.

But I can fully understand why people love the knife, and still mull over getting another one lol :)

I never warmed up to my PM2. I recently sold it and bought a Griptilian with D2 steel from Cabela's and added a set of AWT scales. That knife is one of my all time favorites. I love the feeling of the heft that it has (it's not too heavy) as well as the D2 steel. As far as compression locks go, I like my Sage 5 quite a bit as well.

...I don't like having to shift my grip to cycle the compression lock when closing, unlike frame and liner locks.

There is more than one way to close compression lock - thumb on lock, index on hole. No shifting. Most close liner lock by turning the knife upside down. Isn't that shifting grip?

I don't care, just trying to understand your reasoning.

I never could get too attached my my PM2. I carried if for about a week but it just didn't speak to me. The pinch of the compression did get annoying too. It just sits in a Pelican case now. The Manix 2 is my favorite Spyderco to carry and use. For me, that one is closer to perfection.

I just realized that I have no photos of my Manix knives.
