is the sar 6 worth the price??

So I got my Pumpkin SAR6 yesterday and I couldn't be happier. I sold my Skinny ASH and for about $20 more I basically traded up to the 6. Its a nicer more usable design than my skinny and the finish is 10 times better. I will miss my skinny ash, but this SAR 6 SE is amazing. I say if you're on the fence, go for it. Once its in hand you'll be amazed. Plus you know you can always get your money back and then some. These are instant classics, as Skunk said.

You won't know if it's worth the cost until you buy it, and find out for yourself. Value is perceived...

I just picked up my SAR6 with black/red G10 from the customs.. the lady at the customs asked me who I want to kill with it, and when I said that I intend to not kill anyone with it they released the knife out of customs. The discussions with the customs here are always entertaining..
Anyways, the knife is truly a beauty and will see lots of use (besides shaving my arm which it did perfectly). So again, now as I hold it in my hands, yes for me it is definitely worth the price!

The problem is more, that it makes me now think that my SAR 3 SE was overpriced.. The finish of my SAR 6 is in a different league than my SAR 3. I can compare it with my SFNO LE and my FBM.
I like my SAR 3 a lot, the ergos of the handle fits me nicely. But when I compare it to my ESEE 3 which costs about USD 90.. was it worth almost 3 times the price (incl. kydex sheath)? Am not sure.. I want to say yes, cause I like the SAR3 and don't want to admit that it is.. hmm.. a bit overpriced maybe..
So let me compare my SAR 6 with my ESEE 5 then (I don't have an ESEE 6 and my SAR 6 will be used for the same as I did use my ESEE 5, that's why I compare them), is the SAR 6 worth 4 times the price (incl. kydex)? For me yes. It might not have anything to do anymore with durability, strength etc. but with aesthetics (I mean honestly, do you know anyone who did break a ESEE 5?). I just think with the SAR 6 I have an equally if not better capable knife than the ESEE 5 in a much prettier package. I think I am getting here into a Mustang versus Ferrari comparison which I don't want to go to..
So let me also compare the Ferraris amongst each other.. I have an amazing SFNO LE which I swore will be used but has seen.. zero use so far.. IMO the SFNO LE is the most beautiful blade I have ever owned and I love holding it and looking at it.. but the SAR 6 has already seen more use in 4 hours of ownership..
So, worth it for me!

(but it will never be able to claim the place of my FBM as a user :o)

As it is with anything, the level of worth is purely in the eye of the beholder. I could probably take an old kitchen knife, build a sheath of scrap leather from the top of a worn out pair of boots and do all that I really "NEED" to do with a fixed blade knife. There are other knives from other manufacturers out there that will fill the nitch that the SAR 6 fills (for me) and do it for less money but I will say that for me:
My goal with Busse all along was to get a great set of knives that I really liked the design of, have them in the same color combo, and get varying lengths to fit into my idea of what my proposed knife use was for about any outing situation. With the SAR6 and 3, I feel that I am closer to this than ever before. I didn't really care for the SAR4 so I have a CABS filling the 4" slot. I'm hard pressed to give up my Basic 9 so that I could put a satin/black in that slot but I have a great assortment of fine tools that I am pretty stoked about.
Bottom line........................I am happy with it and willing to spend the cash on it.

thanks for all the input guys.i think im going to get the blk g-10 model before they are all gone:thumbup:
merry christmas!!

ESEE makes a very good knife at a great price point. Their warranty, and the good people there are as fine as the Busse gang. INFI is a better, and more expenasive, steel than 1095; plus satin Busses have a better fit and finish. Ultimately, however, you have to decide for yourself if it is worth it. As was noted above, value is perceived, and relative.
