Is the Sebenza the best folder that money can buy?

I'm not trolling. Besides, I find it amusing that people take this so seriously. Chill out. It's just a KNIFE! I think some people need to get their priorities straight and lighten up.

It's not just a knife, it's THE ONE TRUE WAY.

FOR GODSAKES BUY ONE NOW BEFORE IT'S TOO LATE!

Best is very subjective.

If I showed you a bar of 1010 mild steel and 1075 tool steel and asked which one would make a better knife would it be impossible to answer because better is subjective?

The exact same process allows you to define best in an objective manner. It is just easier if the two objects being compared are not very close in performance.

For example is a Ray Kirk custom bowie a better bushcraft knife than a Gil Hibben Raptor? If you agree that such a question can be answered (and should be rather obvious) you can obviously define best.

All I am saying is that if you know the answer is going to cause problems, it is best left not said. (Especially when the subjesct has been brought up so many times before) From what I have read the Sebeneza is a great knife with excelent fit and finish, but as Mr. Stamp pointed out, best is very subjective. For the record, I do not own a Sebeneza or a Strider or a Spyderco or any other high end folders.

We take it so seriously because it is our obsession, addiction, hobby, craft, and/or art. This forum is testament to that. It's just a production folder, It's also just a watch, just a bike, just a car, or just a gun. Instead it's a sebenza, a rolex, a harley, a vette, or a Nickel plated .357 magnum.

This site is for people who are at least a little loony for knives, please don't make fun of us for being loony, If we weren't, there wouldn't be cool knives.

I've been here a month and feel more at home than I do at home (which bothers me immensely)

"Is it the best?" - Not for everyone. Is it an excellent knife? Heck yes. Is it the best bang for the buck in terms of an EDC? I don't personally think so. In my eyes it's too expensive. But I certainly don't discount anyone else who feels different. If money were no object, I'd certainly want to own one. My own knife budget doesn't allow it though. I'm absolutely thrilled with a Buck Mayo TNT as an EDC for $150. Is a Sebbie better than that knife? Yes, no and maybe. Good luck with whatever you decide.

The terrible irony of this is that we are therefore a self-perpetuating problem in a closed system. If we weren't loony for knives, there wouldn't be cool knives, but if there weren't cool knives, we wouldn't be loony for them. Well, as they say, a chicken is just an egg's way of ensuring the production of another egg. :)

Unfortunately, while I am no longer below the poverty level, my financial straits are such that I am not in a position to judge the quality of Mr. Reeve's work. :(

i personally don't like the look of them or the blade profile. i don't own one since i don't have enough money to spend on the them. Thats just make opinion based on looks.

Please don't b**** about what i said. Its just my opinion

I'm tired of hearing the same thing over and over....that's just like asking which food is best for dinner, chicken or steak?
It's just personal preference, if you are happy with a 20 dollar knife then use it, if you are happy with a 700 dollar knife use that.
Drive what type of car you like, wear the type of clothes you like.

There is no such thing as the BEST knife. Everyone has their personal favorite.

HELLO!!!! We talk about knives here, it's called Bladeforums.
2) You are exhibiting troll-like behavior, I won't go so far as label you a troll yet, 'cuz you're still pretty new, but if you want to stick around you should take this stuff a little more seriously. This is what we do. Many people earn their livelihoods from folders.
3) If there were still rep points, you'd be well into the negatives by now.

That may just be the best thing ever stated in any of the thousands of "Best Knife" threads we have had in the almost seven years we've been taking up cyberspace.

Wow...some of you really need some help.

I was basically wondering if the knife is worth it's outrageous price tag...that's it...I didn't know that many of you would be so offended/mad/etc about my post.

I like knives and find this site interesting, but I think some of you are too serious about this...maybe you're right...maybe I should leave this forum to you 'knife people.'

I'm sorry I brought it up...hopefully a moderator will see this and close it as there is no purpose to continue this thread anymore.

Hey you started it.

Cliff. Best cannot be defined by anyone for anyone but themselves. If someone wants to believe otherwise all the more power to them. I am absolutely certain that what I would call the best knife is not what you would call the best knife. In that respect the 'best' is very subjective and can't be defined by you for this young man that started the post. Nor can it be defined by me or anyone else. Better is not best. Can better be defined? Now that is obvious. For example: the Sebenza is better than the $6 Winchester China made knife on the racks in any Wal-Mart.

Best is a whole other ball game.

once i find a knife that can chop down a tree in one chop, never break, cool looking, sheeple friendly, and everyting else i need in a knife then no knife is best
