Update on #47 of this post

Hi there,

As staying in a place has no dealer, I have to place order online.
I just found there are several online dealers selling different Dragonfly.
I am about to order the right-hand one, then found there is another one with different shape on the handle.
Does it mean one of them is fake? (What I wanted to have is a serrated edge version, I assume they have same handle design with the plain edge).

Add: I just found the the dealer that is selling the right-hand one, is labeling the model as C28SYL2, but on the back of the knife blade, it's marking: SEKI-CITY.

How to identify a genuine Spyderco knife?

PS: I didn't find H2 dragon-fly on Spyderco official website, so I come to ask for advice.

Thanks.

Check here, they also have a huge thread on the Spyderco forums.

Buy from an authorized dealer and you should be good. Fakes are definitely out there.
agreed, but there is no authorized physic dealer here.
One of the online dealer declares it's authorized, but selling same model as right-hand side one.

Most counterfeiters rarely show a lock in the pic or description, I’m guessing it has to do with Chinese knife laws but I’m not 100% sure. If you check the known counterfeit sites you’ll see what I mean.

Hi Dextar,,

Sounds like you are pretty new to Spyderco. So, Welcome to our forum. We also have a forum on our website.

As far as counterfeits go, we believe that there are probably more counterfeit Spyderco's sold Globally than genuine Spyderco's. Chinese counterfeiters have a huge network of distribution Globally. Folks here and on our site forum can probably guide you to sources for genuine Spyderco knives.

Thank you. I only have 3 Spyderco knives. Thanks to you and everyone here to guide me.
Lucky what I have are come from Spyderco official website, but now, because of the international shipping and clear-custom issues, placing order from Spyderco official website is my last choice, let me contact their local online dealer first - it's wholesale, I am not sure if they deliver to individual customer or not.

the seller is said genuine and authorized Spyderco dealer

Who is the seller? And who (besides the seller) says they are an authorized dealer?

Seems I cannot send PM to you, it's a dealer on taobao, and I just made a call to the authorzied wholesales, they confirm the dealer is one of authorized dealer.
I guess it may because like what Jdottinger said: only because of something about regulations, they cannot post a photo with lock?

Here is a link to the official Spyderco Dealer Locator:

Here is a link to the official Spyderco Dealer Locator:

TaoBao is owned by Alibaba who has a reputation for counterfeit goods on their sites. While they are working to stop counterfeit sales, they have a long way to go. I would not recommend buying a Spyderco from TaoBao.

Understand this, and I've reached the wholesaler listed in the Spyderco Dealer Locator, they confirm the shop (the one I wanted to order from) on Taobao is authorized dealer.
Weird.
Anyway, I may have to order from Spyderco official website and wait for the international shipping
