Is there a perfect folder?

is there a perfect pocket knife for you?

Strictly speaking? No, and there never can be.

"Perfect" is subjective until we lay out agreed upon criteria.
Even then, nearly every possible variable can be debated.

Some of the knives pictured in this thread (popular designs btw) have glaring issues to me. Thats all I'm saying.

Agreed. Even my favorite folding knife I carry every day that I have put my own mods into could be "better" in ways beyond my control. But they are minor. However, anything less than perfection is not perfection. But loosely speaking (by which I mean completely misusing the word "perfect" 🤣 ), I can say it's perfect for me, because I love it and it does everything I want it to.

Every time I put a knife in my pocket I feel it could be perfect. But I also like switching it up and changing what I’m carrying.

I still can’t warm up to a fixed blade, other than the kitchen I just don’t find them necessary or comfortable :/

Glaring issues to me are typically:

-A blade much shorter than 3.5"
-small/thin metal handles
-heavy knife without the blade length or strength to show for it
-a lack of traction provided by either handle shape, texturing or jimping
-mystery steel*
-for folders, a poorly designed lock or a lack thereof*
-poor cutting geometry

*Most issues described above can be mitigated or compensated for. The asterisk denotes unforgivable issues typically absent from knives manufactured by major knife makers.

Each person has their take on “the perfect folder” based on their needs/wants.
This question is somewhat like asking “what’s the perfect vehicle”
In any type of hobby, you rarely have someone that just wants one.

Nothing is perfect and we collect knives because we see something that we like in each one that we buy. Perhaps the question can be better phrased as: have you encountered a folder that you have found comfortable for your needs?

The perfect knife for me is still my blue Benchmade Bugout 535. Got it when they were first released, and it’s been my only knife for probably four years or so.

Ok guys, I have tried a lot of knives . CRK -Zaan, Seb31, a lot of RHk’s. You name it I most likely at one point had in my collection. The three folders that I would keep, it would definitely be Socom Elite SS only manual, CRK -Zaan (drop point only) and finally Shirogorov-Stellar.

Circumstances change. And, as they do, so too does what you consider to be "perfect."
Today you may need a diamond, but tomorrow only a pebble.
