Is this a real Buck knife? If not, what is it?

The Phillips screws don't bother me......they just enhance the military look.

The lanyard hole in the pommel looks bad on one side, but that could just be camera angle......you really can't tell until you have a knife in hand.

The fake sheath is worthless, but the knife could be ok. I kind of like that style.

And making racial innuendos in the calm and supposedly intelligent discussion of a knife is innapropriate and unacceptable. I know it was just a lame attempt at humor, but it was NOT funny.

That's something we most certainly should avoid. The world is overflowing with hate already.
You are a smug, uptight, arrogant guy that I surely shall IGNORE from now on.:jerkit::jerkit::jerkit::thumbdn:

And you are wrong.

Think it over. There are standards for behavior and making fun of people of other races is not appropriate or acceptable.

We have people from all over the world posting here, remember that.

Do better.

well this went down hill really quick.

on the note of the Phillips head screws I think it just looks tacky and cheap...I mean I own knives that use a variety of fixtures for the handle but that to me looks the worst, i don't mind the blade profile though.

Well, I was able to find one of these knives on eBay! In 10-13 days it will arrive here from China.

I got it just in time, as someone (perhaps someone from here, as the timing seems convenient) must have sent the dealer some sort of warning or threat. When I bought the knife, there were upcoming auctions for about ten more. The next day, he had taken them all down. He still has all his other knives up. Just these sorts of knives were removed. Oh well, I got mine.

If whoever warned that dealer is interested, here is another blatant Buck copy I saw on eBay, but this one doesn't seem to have the Buck name visible. They ought to put this one in the 'Buck' sheath from my knife!

Unless Buck has a patent for that design to the exclusion of every other maker, I doubt that there's anything they can or would even try to do about that copy of the 119. If the knife had "Buck" on it, or the seller was describing it as a "Buck", that would be a different story.

I reported a dealer from China selling phony knives with the buck name and logo on them (to Joe Houser) and within a short period of time, they were removed from eBay. I got some really ugly and comical messages from that seller.;)

Plumberdave is correct.

People have been making 110 clones for years, don't see why it should be different with the 119.

Can anybody see what's stamped on the tang? Maybe it IS stamped Buck. That would be different.

Nice looking knife, though.

:)

some dont like vc or 'advisers' from china for good reasons

i respect them their thoughts and
will leave them alone and i advise any one else to also ...
it was their lives and they live with it still ..
every one is free to love or hate any one they wish..

kids do read here so jurkit is not a nice emoticon to use..
no mater at who or why
barf and foot mouth are good ones to describe a post or poster
this knife is not a buck ... so why are you nuts arguing?
other wise ..
please dont stop the fight it gets boring here some times!

Sorry, Sharp Dave.......(most mysterious veiled posting ID) I disagree. I think iif you are silent when racial slurs are made, you are just as bad yourself.

And that's a fact.

:thumbdn:

BTW.......I was commenting on the knife that Cisco added to the discussion.

:D You will be much happier now skyhorse :D

I dont even know what the reason is but it was just a matter of time!!!

well this went down hill really quick.

Most threads here do lately, now that we have BG arrogance in every thread. I also urge you to use the ignore feature in your user CP! It will make for better reading! ;)

To try to get this back on topic, oh heck, that aint possible :D

Gentlemen, please.

Knock off he personal attacks, keep it polite. You have an ignore list if you need help avoiding someone you don't get along with.

Knock off the jerkit smiley, too. Save that and all the other personal insults for Whine & Cheese.

Bladeforums will not support bigotry, no matter how casually you accept old attitudes. Don't bring them here.

Posting eBay links for information and discussion is one thing. Posting them to help someone buy the product is auction spotting, a violation of the rules.

Here's a couple of examples. The first is a 103 clone, but since it doesn't say "Buck" anywhere on it, there's nothing wrong with selling it. It's no different than any of thousands of 110 clones.

The bottom one in this photo is another thing all together. Buck has had several auctions for these removed due to trademark violations.

Just to claify for my own info, is it permissable to post a link of an active auction to ask for info on the knife?

It's really not a good idea, if it's a legit knife that people will be interested in bidding on.

The reason I asked was that if it was allowed, it might keep an unsuspecting buyer from purchasing something like the red and black counterfeit Buck in one of the pictures shown above.

If they could post a link here and ask, they would find out real quick that it was phony.

esav thank you for the job you do i know it is not easy ,
i know if it can be mistaken as thin veiled deal spotting
by any one dont do it
i posted a active link for discussion a while back
for discussion reasons and phrase it so it was clear that i feel
no one should bid on it
some  poster challenged me on this
and then started posting a lot of links their self
which as you see has lead to abuses of it

some truly dont seem to under stand and
others it seems  want to push the line in order to generate conversations..
please feel free to check in more often;)
btw
edit MHO is that this thread at first seemed to qualify as ok
but the posting of other links seemed to be out of order..
Dave-
if there is a listing on a knife you want information on
it is generly OK to post a pict of it and some rephrased text to
ask what you need to know ..
long as it is not a link you should be ok
i have done this my self .. with no problem..
least if it is then esav will most likely let me know asap!
or
feel free to email me or another to ask us directly!

If you look closely at the first photo in the OP, it looks like the word CHINA is printed in black paint on the blade tang. Unfortunately, the photo is very poor.
