Is this a real Buck knife? If not, what is it?

back to the original topic, i personally dont like the design, but is there a LEGIT combat knife that this is a copy of? im a gun guy and im quickly learning there are much more to knives than what i always saw them as ....knives. of course i recognize some of the famous designs,(various Bucks, Randall, traditional Bowies, Kabar, Applegate-Fairburn(sp?), etc.) but what would this particular one be modeled after?

its profile ALMOST looks like a (and smack me if i offend) like a Nighthawk

Remindful of a bayonet, definitely!

Almost looks to me like an OLD bayonet that was broken and reshaped.

Thus the disproportionate blood groove.

It's bad enough when rip-off artists steal a legitimate and distinctive design, representative of its maker's creative process. In some ways it can be worse when a cheap manufacturer steals one design element from here, another from there, something else from another, and ends up with a knife with gawky and poorly functional coordination of its parts -- but it looks "cool".

I think it looks like an adapted bayonet, too. To me, it resembles a theater-made knife from WW2; something a marine or GI would have made from a bayonet to fill in some of the endless hours off duty. Some may call it awkward and ugly, but I think it has tons of character. If I had the bucks, I wouldn't mind commissioning an identical high quality one from a knife maker.

Even if this is just a cheapo knife-like-object, I'll still enjoy holding it and looking at it. Who knows? It may even be a passable knife. I have a Chinese lockblade I got when I was 17 that has lasted over 20 years. This bayonet-knife is supposedly 440 steel, probably the lowest grade of 440, but at least it's better than the 420 stainless of most China knives. I'll definitely be ditching the fake Buck sheath, though.

If saying Ruck Rife, causes so much drama nowadays that the race card comes flying out,I don't know what to say! I'm sure George Patton is rolling in his grave! The jerket is a stupid little thing.Good God,MAN UP!

Give it a rest! Bad enough we had personal arguments in this thread before. Bringing them back after everyone's quieted down is TROLLING.

I guess thats why they make so many diferent designs of knives. Everyone likes what they like for whatever the reason. If Cisco sees that knife as the perfect weenie stick carver then more power to him! As soon as I read that, it brought back happy memories of many camping trips. (also made me hungry for a hot dog) Great post I thought.
Isnt that why we come here? To talk about knives since that generally puts a smile on our faces? :)
If anyone sees a knife for sale and wonders if it is an authentic Buck, please feel free to email me and I will take a look and offer my opinion. FWIW
I have seen an increase in counterfiets out there lately, mostly in the Tactical category.

Ok, I recently bought one of these knives. because it was cheap and had a decent look to it. i can't tell you what it is made of. (the selller told me it was 440c but i'm not convinced.) but it is definitely hard. took it to work with me today, i work in a machine shop, and it checked out at hrc 64. i'm not familiar enough with knife blades to know if this is good or too hard. it has a really bad edge on it that i'm trying to rework and it's a pain in the kiester with my washitah. but i'll eventually get it.

Holy thread necromancy batman!!!

64rc is insanely hard, what did you use to test it?

NIxta, I am sure you did not catch we have a sticky for fake Buck information. I am going to move your thread to that spot. Please gang lets not trash this out again and cause some heavy moderation. It going to be locked at this location. 300
