wondering if this is a trade gone bad,i did a trade on Aug.15 an my blade has not arrived yet, three weeks ago he wrote me said he had trouble with customs an remailed it,i said ok,two weeks ago i asked for the tracking number an i was told he will get it from work an send it to me the next day,but i got no response yet.he received my blade on sept 10,he has good feedback here an has been a member here for five years...should i relax an wait another week an send more emails,or should i realize that this trade has gone sour ???

fishmonger (jim seckold) from sydney australia,,give me a message or email lets settle this...

UPDATE:::::got my knives in an it turns out jim seckold was telling the truth all the postal dates match an the box just sat at customs,it was no fault of jims an to top it off when the box came back the first time he added some extras for me,,,

At the very least, that is some piss poor communication. 2 weeks with out a response???

If he is a basic member or above you can try pming him. Either way I wouldn't be too happy if I were you.

I would send him a link to this thread and tell him if you don't hear from him you will put up his name and info for all to see.

If he had issues with Customs the first time he shipped shouldn't there be paperwork to verify his claim?
If he shipped a second time shouldn't there be paperwork to verify this claim also?

Where was he shipping from? I don't see why he would have problems with customs on his end...

I would start with sending him a polite email asking for an answer or resolution, then if that didn't work I'd post his name and info here. A link to the thread "might" make him defensive and hurt any chances at a peaceful resolution. I wish you the best and I'll be following this. Take Care Ash

Two weeks is too long to wait for a response when someone owes you something. One week is too long. I would send the offender a link to this thread and then post the particulars 24 hours later if no significant and concrete evidence existed of good faith efforts. I have no patience with/for deadbeats.
all da best,
rats...

well i left a visitor message,an emails,he was last active on 10-4-2010,i'll give it another week if nothing then im gonna have to take some action..dont really know what i can do besides drop his name on this post,i like to give him the benefit of the doubt...thanks for all the advice,,aloha

Absolutely correct..

I'm not getting a warm and fuzzy about your trading partner here. He/She receives your knife fine but has trouble with customs when sending yours here??. Really! :grumpy:

Question:

If customs was involved then certainly this trade concerns a country from outside the US where you(kalama) reside. Which country are we dealing with here?

Anthony

Customs deals with knives coming into a country, not knives going out. If there were a problem with US Customs allowing the knife in, they would contact you, not him.

Thanks Esav for that info, I never knew that.

Kinda makes his story a wee bit fishy....................................

i was told when he mailed the knife from australia there customs wouldnt allow the knife out of australia, because of some type of gun powder residue on it

we are dealing with australia,im in hawaii

Yes sir, I knew you were here in Hawaii, but was wondering which country your trading partner was in. Thanks for letting us know it is Australia.

That's what I meant in my post #10 in my round about way. Thanks EB for your clarity.

Now that sounds like he is really blowing smoke up your skirt with that one!. Perhaps its time you sent him a link here and revealed his identity??. If he really does value his rep in here it might make him turn around and do whatever it takes to make things right with you.

I am hoping for a good result for you, kalama!. Been where you are now a ways back and it sucks!

Best,
Anthony

you guyz are right,i did 50+ trades in 2 1/2 years on this forum an knifeforum.com with no problem,i waited long enough, the last message i got from "fishmonger"was on sept.15 he said "you should have someone knocking on your door with a box in five days"until today i got nothing, not even a message or email..

So customs halted a knife on the OUT of the country, opened the box to inspect the item, AND decided to test it for gunpowder residue.???

Given we are not in W&C I will have to use the "preposterous" to describe this...........If this turnes out to be even half true I'll be very surprised.

not entirely impossible. before going on the airplane could have been smelled by a dog. but in reality...... who knows.....
