This Fox Karambit is a clear counterfeit (the blade length is incorrect, the etchings on most of his knives are inaccurate, the font on most of his knives are wrong, he ships out of China, and this one shares similarities between 3 models), but would you say that it's worth it? I mean it's $17 for a $100+ knife. Does anyone here have any input to a newbie about buying this?

Aside from the knife possibly being crap, my big concern is this: "In order to ensure you receive you order tax free upon import, we will declare it as a `GIFT` with a lower value. This lower price does not reflect the total price you paid or the market value of the product and may not apply to countries with different tariff rules. Any import charges or fees are the buyer`s responsibility."

How much would possible fees be if I were to go through with this?

If you can't afford a $100 knife, might need to explore new hobbies.

You created an account here just to come and ask about whether you should or shouldn't buy a knock-off?
Nobody here is gonna endorse you buying a fake knife, and honestly I doubt if anyone is going to make much effort to assist you in navigating the treacherous waters of these shady ass websites.

DHGate is actually reputable. If a dealer doesn't hold up his end of the bargain, you get a refund. The only thing you need to look at are the dealers, which I did and even though his merchandise is all counterfeit, he's got nothing but good reviews.

It's not like I'm expecting this knife to be as good as the real thing, I just want a cheap karambit and a trainer (he sells those too, same price) so I can get the feel of them and decide whether I really want one or not. Along with this knife, I plan on purchasing a Cold Steel Rajah III and a Cold Steel Spartan, off of Amazon of course.

Whether or not I made this account to ask a question or not means nothing. I come here quite frequently, I've just never made an account because I've never had a question. Posts on a forum account to nothing in terms of knowledge, don't try acting all high and mighty because you have 465 posts. I'm looking for legitimate responses, not snarky and rude replies.

Not worth it. Always buy authentic knives from reputable dealers. With counterfeits you have no idea what you will get. The steel will not be 5Cr13, the handle may be a cheap G10 lookalike, the lock may not be reliable. You run the risk of not only receiving complete crap, but also injury from an unreliable, poor quality knife with substandard parts. There are a lot of counterfeits out of China and they are notoriously poor quality. There is no authority over these manufacturers to drive any standards or ethics in what they claim vs what they deliver.

If you come here frequently, you know that knockoffs are generally considered horrible abominations. If you're worried about liking the knife, get a gold membership here. You can buy the real deal, and if you don't like it you can sell it for pretty much what you paid for it. In my experience, knockoffs will not give you any idea of what the real knife feels like.

Dude. Let me relate an experience from AliExpress, another "reputable" marketplace with a policy of refunds. The knife was a counterfeit Busse made of "D2" and "G10". The seller had countless positive "reviews". The knife had several visible defects when it arrived, pictures were uploaded along with the request for refund. After 18 posts back and forth with the seller, he offered it at half price. After several more posts and an open dispute he offered 2/3 refund with return of the knife via international shipping (which would cost more than the original purchase). The "reputable" marketplace would not do anything to help until a certain time period and efforts to come to an agreement had been taken. After 90 days of back and forth, the seller finally agreed to a full refund, then posted negative feedback about the buyer. The buyer posted negative feedback about the seller, which showed up under the product. The next day the seller removed the product and re-posted as a new offer...defeating the negative feedback. Amazingly the new offer had 6 positive reviews the day it was posted. Neither the sellers nor the marketplaces on these sites have your best interest in mind. Do yourself a favor and wise up...if it looks too good to be true then it probably is. Think about it, the seller is already ripping off the brand they are counterfeiting...how "reputable" is that?

the liner lock on a 17 dollar knife may not be the most reliable. if you want it for self defense, spend a bit more money on something better. get a real fox karambit, the aluminum handle version is pretty nice.

I would never recommend that anyone buy a counterfeit, regardless of the apparent 'value'. In this case, you are considering a China special, with a questionable build quality, from a dealer that is prepared to commit fraud through a phony customs declaration. My friend, I think that the whole thing stinks. Add the former to the fact that a lock failure on a karambit could cost you some fingers, well, the smart money would just walk away.

buy real fakes the sellers of fakes and the such are trash dont buy into trash you will be sorry!!!

Okay, let me put it this way since you guys clearly aren't actually reading what I'm typing, with the exception of APF and tfields. I know the knife won't be nearly as reliable as a high quality knife. I know it'll be bad for self-defense, I'd never even let it leave my house. Is it worth the $17 that most crappy knives are, or would I be better off buying crap from manufacturers like Tac Force and Mantis? Once again, just trying to get a feel for karambits, I don't want to purchase an expensive one and decide that I don't like it. As hard as it might be to believe, I'd rather not be blowing money on something I don't really want.

What I just typed would get me banned, so typing this instead. You should go ahead and buy it. Shut up and go buy it.

It's not a $100 knife. You're paying $17 and getting a $17 knife.

In comparison to what the knife is ripping off. As stated three times now, I know it's a cheap knife.

You're trying too hard, go somewhere else and bother other people.

Dude, just get it if you want it. Yeah it's fake, but if it sucks, you're only out $17 and a couple months wait...

ETA: And Rasco is right. You aren't going to get a true quality knife for that. You are getting a $17 one. If you can't take simple posts like that, my advice is to log off and not come back

No just buy your rip off knife and support rip off artists like you clearly want to. Why even ask if you aren't going to listen to advice?

There's a pretty resounding "no" coming from us all. Perhaps you should take heed.

How much is $17 to you? If it's a decent amount of money and/or if you're a frugal person... it's probably better you don't "waste" your money on it. However if $17 is like pocket change to you.... then go for it.

For most of us, we wouldn't buy it even if it was $1 either because of principles and/or it's the equivalent to a piece of useless junk.

Well this is clearly another one of those garbage communities that appear to be good upon search results on Google, but turn out to be comprised of idiots that just want people to notice them, which won't happen unless you have 1000+ comments or pay to sell your used crap. Instead of answering questions and giving legitimate responses, I got a grammatically spruced up generic YouTube comment: "lol ur dum". Guess which shit website I'm blacklisting from my search results? You guys enjoy yourselves, you're all worse than Reddit users.

You all act like anything out of China is the Devil. Calm your redneck selves and deal with the fact that Chinese manufacturers make cheap and affordable products. I didn't ask if 'Murica would get upset if I bought a knock-off from a Chinaman, I asked if I should buy this shit knife, or a different shit knife.
I'd say thanks for the advice, but restating what I say over and over again isn't exactly advice.
