Is this knife a copy of something else?

Doesn't look much like the Direwire, certainly not as much as it looks like the Curtiss. But again, anyone know where the Curtiss was designed and is built? Eitherway, we know it's a knock-off.

Yes, my Cat looks a little different than normal. BF user spketch hooked me up with some awesome ivory paper micarta scales.

I'm going what the Chinese are marketing them as. If you have a problem go Email them.

And thanks for the pics. You can clearly see there's a resemblance in the same and style.
 
It's got nothing to do with Direware, since Aliexpress markets it as the Anton Malyshev Gnome as well. He also has the Dwarf, Elf, and Orm models and they are all original designs as far as I know, and maybe the Gnome model is being produced by Aliexpress merchants? A Russian Knife Company was originally producing Anton's other knife designs I think.

If you take a ZT888 and compress the design laterally, add a finger choil, then you would have something that is very close to the Gnome's overall shape. That said, comparisons to the Curtiss F3 are reaching, and basically saying Anton Malyshev copied David Curtiss' design. The Gnome's blade has a finger choil, and a handle with a different shape and swedge.

What about me, I am not make any fakes, replicas and anything what makes me illegal or unhonest. Im industrial designer and made some knife design for mid-tech production in future. Now I cant tell about it, but soon you'll see everything.

As for Gnome, this design was posted in instagram in may, and now we have a lot of pieces on aliexpress. We want some feedback about it but some chineese steal it and made it.
Gnome design is not copy from anything. It was a simple attempt to make something flipping with a spyderco techno philosophy. All
coincidence is accinent.

You state that the design was yours originally, posted in May 2014 - can you comment on any inspiration from previous designs?

You state that a Chinese manufacturer built the design without authorization - do you have any legal recourse to stop them? Alternatively, since you intended this as a midtech probably produced in China anyway, do you think you may try to partner with the pirate manufacturer to at least get you name on the knife?

Awesome, great to have you here. FWIW, the page I bought it from didn't list any designer (I think they called it NUKEM or somesuch). I looked around to see if it was a copy of anything and couldn't find a similar design before I bought it. You probably won't be happy to hear this, but the copy is extremely well executed. It's quite well made.

Out of curiosity, as I love the design, will your official Gnome model be produced at some point? Where will it be sold?
 
Inspiration. Yas, I like sbrous silent solder much, spy tecno and other small knives. Are they similar? May be. But Gnome designed as is and it has a difference from others. If it will have no choil and another form of handle and blade it will be another knife. Here in Russia we have a words: {Lets keep the W&C commentary out of the discussion forums please}

Can I stop the unauthorized production? I think not.
Dofferent sellers call this knife as they want, I tried to ask them to rename it, but it have no results.
Can I avoid this in future? I'll do my best.
Is this tought me something? Yes. It was an expirience to not to show the design before official release.

No, project closed. If you like it you can buy unofficial. But it makes me proud that my design was faked so fast)))
I can tell you, that we preparing more interesting things soon and I dont regret about Gnome.)
 
I'd like to get one, myself. Where can I find one? What's the brand name and model?

Will your other knives be sold only through CKF? Now I'm interested in acquiring a real Malyshev, since I like my fake one so much.
