Is this knife a copy of something else?

Can I stop the unauthorized production? I think not.
Dofferent sellers call this knife as they want, I tried to ask them to rename it, but it have no results.
Can I avoid this in future? I'll do my best.
Is this tought me something? Yes. It was an expirience to not to show the design before official release.

I guess Congratulations on the winning design! Well done.
I would bet that the Curtiss design had similar influences and your saying is quite accurate about major distinctions between your design and others of similar size/shape.
I look forward to more of your designs and you receiving appropriate recognition for them. Keep up the good work.

Not really. Many times they dont know what they are copying. Much gets lost in the translation. While some sellers are calling it a direware copy its not. They actually do have direware copies now though and those are not it.
 
Malyshev now has several knives out of the CustomKnifeFactory being marketed by FromRussiawithKnives. Anyone actually obtained any of his "legit" work for evaluation?

Jim skelton has a decepticon that he did a review on. What I dont understand his knives are cnc'd in china. They deal with one of the same factories manufacturing clones and he talks as if he is above it. Thats like saying you are against sweatshops as you are buying a pair of jeans made in Bangladesh. He claims he doesnt deal in clones but if you go to his website they have MANY rip off knives. You just need to know how to navigate his website. I have no problem with china or clones but I do have a problem with people double dipping.

Forget the thieves? This coming from the guys having knives made by kevin john and who are currently selling clones of brous, rassenti, and spydercos on their website?

I think it was a mistake to close the project. With premium materials and being a true Gnome, it would sell like crazy! The clones affect the sales, yes... But great designs still sell very well through legit means!

The unnamed Chinese knife looks better [than the Curtiss]! Edge doesn't have an abrupt turn in it, grind lines are simpler and more elegant, pivot hardware isn't stupidly large, the swooping cutout in the handle is nice, only one handle screw instead of two, the back spacer doesn't stick out like a stegosaurus's back, the flipper doesn't appear to be jimped and is a better shape, it has a usable choil, it has jimping on the spine. I could go on!
 
Cheap pos rip off and folks scrambling to buy one? Guess it takes all kinds. USA all the way here.
 
It is the only way to obtain the Gnome flipper. Even the maker is saying to get the knock off Gnome if you want one. :\
