Got this excluive Ontario Rat 1 from knifeworks and it seems the liner goes way to deep.
Will this cause me grief in the future after some wear or not.
Im debating if I should send it back or not.
Thanks

That does seem to be over there! Sometimes a lock will stay that way for a very long time and give you no trouble. But I believe I would contact Roger/Ashley and ask about an exchange. Attach that pic to the email and express your fear that the liner will wear way too soon.

I have two Rat 1's and they both seem to be deep locks. Especially when I flick them open.It doesn't bother me too much because they were only $30.

Mine is at most 100% even with a strong wrist flick. I rarely flick any of my folders as a matter of choice.

Yours does appear deep.

Have you made any attempts to adjust the pivot and handle screws yourself?

Will that change lock up? I know it will change blade centering but never heard of anyone adjusting lockup that way or having the lockup change while trying to center a blade. Just curious since I no longer use liner locks and haven't heard that before.

i am weird about liner locks. i prefer they sit on the unlocked edge side rather than closer to the other side, as yours is. it's a obsessive/compulsive thing, i admit so i'm a bad person to give advice....but if your anything like me even a shred.... i'd send it back.

both of my rat1's liner locks sit just slightly off center, on the unlocked side.

It has on an old Emerson Horseman I had. I had to loctite that pivot & handle screws into place. The only knife I've owned that had a lockup like that pic. Weird stuff.
That knife can be fixed by adding a larger stop pin. Probably too much problems to go through for that knife. Send it back.

Its a $30 knife. You'll get years of usage before you'll need to worry about wear to the point the liner lock won't engage the blade. Both of mine out of box were like that. I personally wouldn't worry about exchanging it. I'm sure they will swap it out for you. My luck would end up landing me a knife with an even worse issue. Good luck either way!

Just wrap some thin aluminium foil around the stop pin. I did that with my SRM 710. At that price point, not worth it sending back ..

I'll send it back. I paid $37 shipped. So I'll have to pay about $5 to ship it there, they ship back for free.

That is a cheap knife with linerlock. I would pretty much expect something like that, and would consider myself lucky if got anything better that that.
Just receintly I have got Buck Vantage with something similar. And my Spyderco Tenacious got to this stage in very little time.
Agree with comrade Brandonsc here. Do not worry about it. Or buy knife with backlock - if you do not mind a small vertical blade play. Or get a knife with AXIS if you do not mind the price.

Certainly not something I would worry about on a $30 knife. Not worth the time and trouble to return it IMO.
