Is this Sanrenmu knife a copy of some other knife?

Just wondering if this is an original design or a copy of some other knife. It's a Sanrenmu 738.

not that i can see but sure is a nice design

Very nice little knife. The carbon fibre looks pretty good. The blade steel is ok. The ergos with a lanyard on the knife makes it adequate in my hand. The jimping on the top is very functional. Fit and finish is plenty good.

Not bad for all of $15 delivered.

First the 710 was a smll Sebenza knock off. This looks inspired by Rick Hinderer's Cam Knife. Is it a framelock or a linerlock?

It does have some similarities. Looks like an alright beater knife for the price.

I would, it's a real looker! Probably about $10 -15 too.

Oops make that US $7.00 :D

From what I've read, this one is apparently one of the best they offer, and supposedly isn't particularly inexpensive in the home market.

The blade takes a nice edge, and came hair shaving sharp. I haven't really done anything to the knife yet to personalize it, but will probably convex the edge and put a crown on the spine. I'd like it more if it were a bit larger, but it's quite alright as is.

Sorry, but I have to disagree. You would have been right if one assumes that any knife with an insert in the handle would be inspired by those knives, but really those knives have nothing to do with the 738. The blade shapes are different, the handles are different. Apart from that they all are folding knives with inserts in the handles, there's nothing else...

I can't say that it's a copy... like a knock off is a copy. But I can certainly say that a lot of their designs, their photography, their catalog layout... it's all reminiscent of Benchmade. Reminds me of my $10 Magnum Boker knockoff. I use to it pry open paint cans.

I should add... that's $7 before shipping so it's like $12-$15 with shipping. So you're talking about paying a third to half the cost of a Spyderco Tenacious or Persistence, both of which are worth at least 5x Sanrenmu's crap to a knife user. On the other hand, if you're a knife 'collector' that likes a lot of pretty things that don't work... Sanrenmu wins with flying colors.

Let me know how that manure collection works out for you. :D
:D

I own SRM knives, I ordered this one but its heading to my US addy since Australian customs have there knickers in a knot...can't wait to try it out, my 710 has performed on par with some of my $100+ knives so its just an elitism thing from those that militantly wont own one. I love the people coming in dropping names (ie. spyderco) when I own spyderco knives that do not perform any better, and I use the hell out of my knives at work in a CNC machine shop.

If it can do the job well I'll own it...ironic part is Rough Rider knives in the traditional section dont get the stigma that SRM have in the general section.

I own a few SRM knives. I also have a Tenacious and some of the Spyderco Byrds. The quality of the SRM´s is very similar to the chinese made spyders. Suspiciously similar, even. They are very good knives for the money.
