Is this tooling mark normal?

No way that scratch will affect the steels strength.

I can understand how you feel a bit bummed that you put on beautiful new handles and then have the scratch.

If it was mine I'd make that scratch into a very thin "blood groove" and add a matching groove on the other side.

This is what I was thinking the whole time.

Just to update everyone:

I am absolutely blown away at the level of customer service I just received. I won't go into details, but Jerry Busse is a stand up man of true integrity. I will not hesitate to purchase Busse in the future. I know I am preaching to the choir here, but maybe someone who is not a member here and stumbles upon this thread with google will not hesitate to buy Busse after reading this:

Go ahead, buy with confidence. You won't be sorry.

Add that to the original post!

Many, my self included, might not take the time to read the entire thread to get to a resolution.

I have said it before, but I will always be a fan of Busse, Swamprat and Scrapyard! Just great companies to deal with!

If is a Combat GRade, you must be strong or..."bleah"...They don't grinding anything. They just coated the blade. If yuo take it off, you will see an horrible manufacture. It's not a problem of Tank, but of all the COmbat Grade line.
Really, he is the first to see that?

I am convinced that Jerry Busse would take care of this problem immediately. I had a problem and almost fell off my seat when I got a call from him to resolve the problem. HE CARES.

For those of you who followed my previous problem, Jerry saw no problem sending me 2" x 2" pieces of matching matching handle material for a backyard/DYI project I was working on. :)
Due...it's something tha you will find on every damned knife of Combat grade. The don't refnish the blade, since they are all coated.
We used to call "orange skin". No finishing under the coating. I've seen, for example, a SAGE and and SHBM with this or like this "problems".
To me, is not a problem since i used them all. But if you are a "don't touch my knives", better to send it to Jerry for a SPA.
