is this worth keeping

Marekz, I doubt very seriously I could come close to guessing what you paid for it. Though I have absolutely no idea of the value, I do know that is some mighty fine lookin wood. When you get it all set up and ready for use, drop me a line. I'd love to buy a block or two of it from you for handles. Hopefully by the time it is ready, I'll have enough practiced enough to make a blade worthy of putting a nice handle on.
