Is your knife just a knife?

Is your knife just a knife? Is it only a tool to you? Or is it also a security blanket? I mean, a lot of us get upset about not being able to carry a knife here or there for a few hours, where we probably wouldn't have to use it anyways.
So if you don't like being without your knife, why is it?

A knife is a tool to me. I want screwdrivers and a blade handy to my hand. So I carry a cutting blade and a Micra. I use one of these tools that I carry at least a couple of times a week for one thing or another. It's handy. It's not a security blanket.
